Fresh faces bring optimism

The season has started with a bang, firstly a bang on Patrick Cregg by Steven Thomson and a couple of good goals against St Mirren. It’s great to see the season starting well for young 19-year-old Wotherspoon getting his first goal, which he took superbly. Keep them coming. Also well done to Benji for getting the head down low for another superb goal. He may be unpopular in some sections of the Hibs support but if he produces finishes like that week in week out there won’t be many doubters by the end of the season. We really need to get fully behind any player that put on the famous Hibernian FC jersey regardless of what has been said in the papers.
Then it was over to Falkirk which would see a few Hibs boys facing their old employer. It’s always a tricky place to go and its good to see we got the end result even if we didn’t play to the best of our abilities. This is one thing that all the great managers preach, winning no matter how, is the most important thing. Well done to Bamba and Deeks for getting themselves on the scoresheet.
The highly regarded and anticipated return of Anthony Stokes to Scottish football was to the great delight to myself and many more Hibs fans I’m sure. We know he can score goals, and with Riordan as a partner it should be a good partnership in the making. By all accounts he done well for not having trained for long with the team or properly bonded and I’m sure we will see improvements as the weeks go by. We still need a couple more signings just to bolster the squad and keep players fighting for position but all in all I’m a happy Hibby.
On a lighter note did anyone watch the comedy on BBC2 the other night. It really was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen in a long time. That’s right, Hearts were playing in Europe against Dinamo Zagreb. Well I say playing in Europe but they were only doing that for the first five minutes. An embarrassing night for all involved with Hearts as it should have been a lot more and I’m sure it will be in the 2nd leg. And now Laszlo is getting upset cause he has finally realised just how bad a striker Nade actually is. Wouldn’t be surprised if its another big fall out in the Hearts camp because Romanov wont spend any money on new players… ach well. Celtic also were playing in European competition but fell at the first hurdle by losing to an Arsenal side that were not on their best. Celtic lost 2 soft or unlucky goals but as we all know it’s the score that counts so I think they will find it hard in London.
Keep happy, Hibees.
