Association Membership

Alright troops

was in the Hibs spporters club this afternoon pre-match and Bill Alcorn - Secretary of the association or something - took the mike and was wanting to have a word with all secretaries from out of tow branches.

On my way out i asked what it was about and apparently we - possibly one or 2 other branches as well, never really followed up on it - not my place to - are not affiliated (sp) currently with th association, cards are/were made up for this year and ready to rock and roll and there is some sort of new system coming in soon, possibly the one we heard about a long time ago - names on computers rather than wee cards, not sure i think Bill Alcorn is hopin to talk with ofice bearers about this - not just us but all branches as well as the general script on our whole scenario

just seems like he's just wanting to find out whats happening with a few of the branches, i think we had a discussion at a meeting a while back about staying "official" maybe worth while looking again at it, i'll be in th club before the Rangers game so if nobody gets in touch with bill before that and wants me to pass anything on to him let me know

I think it is worth being of the supporters club just so that we can have some say when things come up that they do such as the daft idea to back the plastic pitch. However what exactly is the point of being a member of the association other than access to the club on sunnyside st. which apart from yourself Colin I don't know anyone else who uses it. Still I will try to make contact with them to see what it is all about.

Personally speaking, being a member of the Association holds no real benefit for me. Similarly, not being a member has no down-side, but I appreciate that varies from person to person. Maybe us being Associate Members could bring more pressure on their Office Bearers to stop coming out with pish saying we would welcome HMFC using Easter Road while Tynecastle is "redeveloped

I'm pretty sure that we were affiliated for the first couple of years (2004 and 2005) but we let it lapse as the concensus at the time was that we never saw any real benefit in affiliation.

Doesn't mean we can't rejoin if that's what we want to do I suppose. One for the next meeting ?
