Prime Time

Anyone see this last night about the state of the Eircom League.Pretty damning stuff.Clubs are not only running at a loss but are paying more in wages alone than they are pulling in.Who runs these clubs?Eircom have pulled their sponsorship of the league but will continue to sponsor the national team mirroring the mentality of most people in Ireland when it comes to football. Is the united league of Ireland plans a non-starter?

Heard about the programme, and heard it was a load of bo**ox. Total non event. The Irish media love these sort of things. Makes them feel better about supprting English football over ours

Would you be up for an All-Ireland League?

I agree with you about much of the Irish media, but its clear that the current situation may not be that sustainable.

Surely its a bit more serious than that if even the top 4 clubs are running at a loss to the combined tune of 7 million euro.I also agree that the media would rather not have a league over here as it would lessen the guilt of travelling over to England of all countries to get their football fix.I have never had less time for the Premiership than I do right now.Local clubs for local people...

Unlucky on Tuesday Mark.Sounds like it might still be game on though.

Very unlucky. We played really well. They had 3 chances, scored 2.

Should be great game in RDS in 2 weeks

Re: Prime Time

Only saw the end of the programme but you have to be worried about the league as nearly every club is basically spending beyond its means and are in financial trouble whether they admit to it or not.

Re: Prime Time

I'd say only a few clubs are in this situation (cork, sligo, galway, waterford). And as I said earlier, every league in the world has these problems

Re: Prime Time

Top 3 Premiership clubs are running on a combined loss of over 1 billion

Premiership clubs as a whole are at a loss of over billion.

Hearts fucked too

As I said above, so me a league in the world no were there aren't financial problems

throw drogs in the mix aswell... with the ground deal falling through theyre fooked... couldnt pay their players this week and have said theyll have to go back part time next year.... with the court case pending Bohs will be lucky to have a team next season with the crazyiness going on there....
With the ways things are goin, nevermind a 10team league we'll be lucky to have more then 3or4.. Pats, Rovers & fookin UCD!
