Galway: What's the craic with it?

Haha Strange as the title may seem I was just needing a bit of adivce.

A mate of mine from Derry, who has lived in Edinburgh the last 6 years, is moving off to Canada. Before that we are all heading to Galway for a weekend for one last hoo-rah!

Anyone from/been to Galway that can suggest a few good spots. We're heading over on on the 13th-15th June.

Cheers lads.

Everywhere in Galway is great. Pubs around Eyre Square are the most popular I think, I shop Street. You'll have a great time. Galway is class

Galway is a quality town, the pubs are brilliant. Always seems to be a good atmosphere around the city at night.

Re: Galway: What's the craic with it?

Galway is buzzing during the summer. It's a small city, but its packed with good pubs, live music etc.

Quay Street/Shop Street area has a great atmosphere. The King's Head, Neactain's, The Quays, The Front Door, Busker Brown's, then there's a few trad music pubs. Seriously, you're spoiled for choice.

As Rep. Of Ireland Hibby said, Eyre Square is also popular and most of the nightclubs are nearby too.

For accommodation, there's a Jury's Inn at the bottom of Quay Street and next to the Spanish Arch/River Corrib. It's a good location for a boozy weekend.

June is a great time to come as there are a few events later in the summer when you really would be struggling to find accommodation.

Been there a few times, and even talked my brother into having his stag weekend there. Fantastic place, and as said above, you're spoilt for choice and the nightclubs are decent.

Have a wee gander at the John F Kennedy memorial while you're there, as it's not quite widely known that the Eyre's Square official name is John F Kennedy Square.

Have a good time, and when you come back post up some pics!
