The mere acknowledgement has brought a lump to my throat. However tyou should know well enough by now that the chances of me being able to post pictures on here are slim to nil.

I'll try and have a guess though xx

It's a beauty isn't it. My favourite will always be the Quattro though.

Right, your turn to add a pic.....

Pass.

I don't think it's British, so I'd say it's an obscure European manufacturer I've never heard of.

I'll let Stu and the rest have a go!

yeah Team Lotus and Jim Clark driving it i think?

oh an NIH the SWB quattro sport is my favourite too though only 300 or so ever made and fetching up to £50 000 these days, would settle for the lwb version but there quite pricey too and its almost impossible to get spares these days.

The Quattro is a car that really stirs the soul, but I'm told that if you had one some seriously pricey things could go wrong with it.

Re: Guess the motor - add yours

a lot of ppl dont know how to look after the quattros i had a 1990 Coupe Quattro ( newer shape - they produced the older and newer coupes at the same time for a while ) and was a great car but some people thought the Diff Lock button was for switchin the quattro system on wich it aint it shouldnt engage above 15mph but i beleive that the relay wich regulates this commonly goes faulty then the idiots can engage the rear diff lock at whatver speed they want and absolutely ruin ehm

same kinda thing actually ruined VWs supercharged range. too many people with scare storys of them breaking ruined the market for them, where as if you look after them they will run forever

You're right - it's far too early to be an M3 E30, I'm not too good on Beemers.

I think I can see it has 3.0l livery: is it one of those Alpina editions or is that a more recent thing?

its not a 3 or 5 series and i think that one in 3.0 litre form ( as NIH's eagle eyes saw ) was only produced 1973 to 1975

oh and Bannox is headin on the right tracks with Motorport

Re: Guess the motor - add yours

Looks a bit like one of the old 6-series coupes with some kit on. The best known of the series was the 635 CSi I think, an extemely fast car - about six seconds-odd to 60mph.
