Clueless Old Firm fans

In my few years living back in glamorous NI, I've witnessed the following acts of stupidity from Old Firm fans:

- Supporters from both sides rioting while wearing their team colours: hello? you must really be proud of your club.

- ###gers fans walking the streets wearing team colours while a crucial televised game is being shown in every pub in town: doh!

- ###tic fans accusing us of 'lying' down to Rangers at the end of last season: surely an inability to bear lowly Motherwell was more to do with it lads?

- One ###tic fan telling me that "Easter Road is awash with Tricolour flags and Republican songs": Been to a game since the 1980s asshole?

- Every ###gers fans telling me that "Easter Road is awash with Tricolour flags and Republican songs": Been to a game since the 1980s assholes?

- Every ###tic fan I meet ALWAYS mentioning politics BEFORE football: sums it up.

Any more?

This one REALLY bugs the fcuk out of me. If you walk through Dublin City DURING an old firm game you'll see people walking about in ceptic colours not even interested in watching the game.

Will always remember a couple of years ago, ceptic were playing in San Siro against AC Milan in Champions League. I went for a swim in the gym and first thing I saw in the pool was a guy with the ceptic crest tattooed on his arm, not even watching the match or interested it was on.

Also, if you were to be in Dublin on a match day Saturday morning and walk up to someone wearing ANYTHING ceptic, and ask them who they were playing that very day, 9 out of 10 wouldn't have a clue

Re: Clueless Old Firm fans

Was on a school trip to Holland in 1990 when a school from somewhere in Belfast arrived to stay in the same hotel as our school. I was surprised when a couple of the lads from the school got off their bus sporting Hearts tops.
When I quizzed them later as to why they were wearing Hearts colours(most of them were Rangers fans) they said they had started supporting Hearts when Mo Johnston had signed for Rangers as "Hearts were the only Protestant team left in Scotland". I then informed them that Hearts had plenty of Catholic players down through the years and John Colquhoun who was playing for Hearts then was infact Catholic.

The irony of course is that Mo Johnston went on to sign for Hearts 3 years later in 1993

Re: Clueless Old Firm fans

Also....watching Celtic v Hibs(in what was my local in Dublin a few years ago) with my Hibs top on in a predominantly Celtic pub. Before the game and when Celtic were 1-0 up they had no problem with me whatsoever but when Marc Libbra equalised with 10 mins to go and I cheered and clapped, one particularly mutated looking bloke turned round and shouted "fcuk off ye orange barsteward"

Absolute feckin muppet!!

Workin on a building site in Dublin last year, one of the boys had a celtic top on, and i told him i supported Hibs. He just looked at me suspiciously and asked " Is that one of those blue teams ?"
