I'm going to be potless after the Turnbull weekend so I'll not be doing much. Good idea though.

Well ye can sod Embra, I'm off to Toyko 8)

Had a great Paddys day in Edinburgh in 2001 though, spent most of it in Finnegans Wake, was a 45 min queue to get in at 1pm!

Re: ST Pats Day in Edinburgh

Chicago or Edinburgh would be the business but the Turbull weekend is going to ruin me as I've just handed over the money for a honeymoon in the US - Vegas and NY!

I'll use it as a consolation when I'm sitting if I'm sitting in some sh1thole outside Ballymena on St. Paddy's!!!

No sleep til Belf... err.. Budapest.

Yep, it's Budapest for me. I have to say that Ireland is probably the worst place on earth to celebrate Paddies Day. I reckon the craic is much, much better away from here. Over the last few years I've spent it in Edinburgh (Yep, Dublin-Hibee, that was some day in Finegans wake!) and Amsterdam and the craic was brilliant each time, so here's hoping Budapest or rather Becketts bar will be hopping..

Glad everyone is doing something for the Saint's day. Good job you aint' coming to Dundee, as there's NOTHING. Well... except that Franchise Pub "O'Neil's" which would be full of students, maybe a 1/4 being Irish of some sort. All the other bars do nothin.

Well, apart from "Mickey Coyle's" on the Westport, that is. They play soundtrack music and have the Guinness buntering up and about, and they don't take the píss. That is until they see me.

Enjoy yourself lads. You can take the Man out of Ireland, but you can't take the Irish out of the man. (or close to it)

BTW Hibernian_Dub. I like that crest, doesn't look like the GAA Dublin Badge, but looks close.

Am I too dumb to ask your decision to choose it?

Scoobie, it's actually the UCD (University College Dublin) crest. It's one I've always liked as it incorporates the Harp, the Shamrock and the 3 Dublin castles. Many moons ago, I had an idea of having something similar as the Dublin Hibees crest.

érin go brágh,
Keith.

Sorry, mate. That leaves it open for me to ask you if you went to the Uni? I know there's DCU as well, because I have a friend that works for one or the other. Not sure which. Actually, he's not much of a friend now..... kinda píssed off to Dublin and never came back.

Ach, well. That's how it goes. I fecked off to Dundee, so what do I care?

Thanks for letting me know. We should tailor it to suit your vision.

Nah, I graduated from the school of life, also know as the school of hard knocks . DCU is a poor mans version of UCD or the place anyone with dyslexia applies to by mistake . The main two universities/colleges here are UCD and TCD (Trinity College Dublin).

AFAIK quite a few Irish attend Uni at Dundee, yeah? I've been over there a few times, even had my stag there (it's a long story ) and I've always met plenty of Irish on each visit.

érin go brágh,
Keith.

More dyslexia, should be DH not HD

Dublin-Hibee will, I'm sure, soon be on here to tell all, but in the meantime, I know he was in Tokyo last year for a couple of weeks to meet his burd, Xing-chi Wow, so he has some previous knowledge of the place.

When I asked him what was Tokyo like, he said it was full of Japaneese!

The film 'Lost in Translation' which is one of the worst films I've ever seen actually put me off Tokyo.

Re: ST Pats Day in Edinburgh

Aha! - DH and HD; now I understand!!!

I got your PM and wondered why Scotty had changed his name!

I'm fairly useless with real names, let alone these madey-up ones.

BTW, I loved Lost in Translation but I was more fascinated by the surroundings than the booooorrrrriiiiiiinnnnnggly slow 'romance'.

See you in March,

NIH

I've been to Israel, about 8 years ago. Did the whole visiting Bethlehem and Jerusalem bit, and the wailing wall. Amazing stuff. We didn't stop in Tel Aviv, but the coach went through it.

I believe they're still trying to re-build it

Yeah, I also did the whole Jerusalem/Bethlehem tour myself about 7 years ago. Thought it was an amazing place. More history than Hibs. Thats why I'd love to go back and the Ireland match would have been a good 'excuse' to see more of the country. How they reckon Israel is in Europe is beyond me, but then again, nobody else wants them....
