The Green Brotherhood Round Up.....
After a fine home draw with champions Celtic, we travel Belgium on discovery that ex Hibby's Yannick Zambernadi's La Louviere club play in emerald green and are currently third in Belgium’s top league, beating Mouscron 3-1, whilst also in Belgium Cercle Brugge lost the local derby with FC Brugge by five goals to zero.
Zambo ![]() In Holland FC Groningen managed a 2-2 away draw at De Graafschap, whilst in France, St Etienne drew 1-1 again, this time in Corsica with Ajaccio. In Germany Werder Bremen got back to winning ways, beating Hannover 3-0. In Spain, Real Betis continue their poor start, losing 3-2 away at Osasuna, whilst Racing Santander earned their first points drawing 1-1 with Villareal. In Portugal, Sporting Lisbon did a Rangers, losing 1-0 to Maritimo of Funchal, continuing the Latin theme and Mexico where Santos Laguna won 4-2 at home to Jaguares. In Switzerland where St Gallen remain second bottom, 1-0 at home to Basel, whilst in Greece football returned and champions Panathanaikos hit top spot in week one with a three nil home win against Ionikos. Hungary and Ferencvaros remain top, came back from their 1-1 draw with Millwall, beating Nyiregyhaza 5 -0. In Austria, Rapid Vienna stay top with twenty points after a home win, 2-1 against GAK, whilst in Denmark; Viborg lost 1-0 at home to bottom club Randers. ![]() Ferencvaros Fans In England, ex Hibs Boss Bobby Williamson Plymouth continue their expected run of defeats, this time losing 2-1 at home to Wolves, which is no surprise to most Hibernian supporters. Yeovil Town continue their winning run, hitting second place of the English bottom league, humping Oxford United by five goals to one. Ex Hibby’s Clubs Daniel Andersson’s club Helsingborgs lost 2-1 at Orebro, Nicky Colgan’s Barnsley beat local rivals Huddersfield 2-0, Roland Edge’s Hull City continue their great run winning 3-2 at Peterborough The Non-Greens ![]() First to Czech Republic and Slavia Prague, who stay top with 16 points after winning 1-0 in Liberec. In Turkey Fernabahce continued their winning run with a 3-1 home win against Malatspor, moving them to equal top. In La Liga, both Barca drew 1-1 with the very impressive Atletico Madrid, whilst the Galacticos lost 1-0 to Espanyol, a result that has been coming for some weeks and saw the end of their manager Camacho’s brief and sweaty reign at the Bernabau. Down south Everton keep their good run going, winning 1-0 at home to Middlesbrough, whilst Manchester United overcame Liverpool by two goals to one at Old Trafford last night, marking the return of Rio Ferdinand with a win. The Toon continued to bounce back, beating Southampton 2-1 whilst Bolton continue their magnificent progress under Sam Allardyce, holding the goners to a 2-2 draw in North London.
