Bye Tynie, Bring on the Rangers..........

The news that thousands dreaded has arrived. It was inevitable. Pretty damn soon, Gorgie will be a quiet place on Saturday afternoons. That’s right folks, Somerfield is closing!!!

Now, first off, I know we’ll get Jambo’s banging on saying ‘we get better crowds than you’ and to be fair, I have always been of the ideal that you should worry about your own house (ironic or what!?) before you go slagging off someone else’s, but they do it to us about the Scottish Cup, so I don’t really care!

It looks to me as if the Hearts board have taken lead from Hibs with “Stand Up And Be Counted” – minus a crucial vowel in the last word though! The Hearts fans are understandably gutted, but that’s the way the stadium crumbles boys…if you put idiots in charge, you reap the whirlwind. Mind you, the fact that we’re staying at Easter Road must make it doubly worse for them, ach well!! Those crazy directors, what ya gonna do?!

Nah, in all seriousness, I’m certain there will still be goals getting scored down Tynecastle Way for years to come….unless they outlaw ball games in the Tynie Way, Tynie Place, Tynie Avenue etc etc etc!

OK, enough of the laughs, what about us guys with teams NOT being offered aid by the Big Issue? Folk are having a good go at us(no change there then) for getting 2 men sent off against Motherwell. So what? One week we’re being critisised for trying to play ‘total football’, then the next we’re a team of bruisers. Aye, Hibs are the team they love to hate!

I dunno what big Tony must make of it all. But whatever he makes of his sides being slagged off no matter what they do, you can bet your life he’s prepared for it. The gaffer has won everyone over with his style and words. The only way I can put it, is that he has the passion of a fan, but the wisdom of a professional. And that’s EXACTLY what we want and need.

Mogga has been slated for saying he wanted his team to play a passing game, and that led to one piano playing fud on the TV comparing him to Ivan Golac and the like. Nonsense. Any Hibby at the forums know he’ll not stick to what is not working, and will change things if he feels they are not right – he showed that with his half-time substitutions last weekend, and we won.

Rangers will no doubt be a tough game, but I see no reason to fear them, or anyone else for that matter – when we play the game as it’s supposed to be played we’re a joy to watch ...


... and a lot more attractive proposition than the pictures!
