10 Games Unbeaten

When we scraped together that 10 game unbeaten run under Collins I remember a distinct lack of moaning on this board (feel free to prove me wrong, I have selective memory). Aye, there was a bit of realisim but there was naeb'dy saying, sack this, drop that, he's shit, never play that kunt again.

Is there an element of our support that is decidedly guntish? I.e don't care how we win, just that we win?

I like no, I love to win but scraping results and being happy with it (in denial, perhaps) is guntery of the highest order.

How would General Hibs chat have looked if Deeks had scored his penalty + extra time goal with a third provided by Nish/Fletch/Pianu whoever at the death?

For the record I only managed the first half, my son got bored @ about 35minutes (he's still not see Hibs score) so I cannae really comment on the game other than there was nae midfield (not realy acceptable) and the back look a bit tentative (understandable).

If we're gouing to moan at anyone, it should be the folk that hold the purse strings, imo.

Re: 10 Games Unbeaten

Big difference between 'scraping' 10 results in a row and losing to pish teams week-in week-out. How you regard being happy when only 'scraping' a win as guntish behaviour is beyond me.

We would all love to see us enihilate teams everyweek but it aint gonna happen, baby.

How many defeats is that in a row?

The guntish thing is the arrogance/denial aspect. You know, no matter how mince they are; if they're winning 1-0 or not losing in an exciting 0-0 victory then everbody's happy. They just don't care as it's purely about one-upmanship i.e. it's not about the fitbaw.

I like to see us play fitbaw. I don't want to see us lose but I think Mowbray's ethos was as close to how it should be/can be done on our budjet. But then, he had more natural talent at his disposal than Mixu.

I think we're missing out, we could be a great team with a little extra cash.

Re: 10 Games Unbeaten

I don't think cash has anything at all to do with it.

We have assembled a pretty decent squad, and spent a decent amount too.
Was it not an operating loss of about a million in the last accounts?

In any case, give Mixu a couple of million and he'll buy another couple of centre forwards and play five up front.

It's purely down to tactics and organisation really.
(Of course another midfielder would help........

For the avoidance of doubt, anything stated in the above post is written without prejudice; is probably completely uninformed opinion, and possibly just a figment of my imagination. Readers should either ignore, treat with contempt, or simply accept the spirit it is written in, without recourse to huffy replies, legal action or threats of violence.
That includes YOU.

when we were on that run with collins, there were a lot of people bemoaning the unconvincing fashion in which we were winning. we were setting ourselves up for a fall (obviously) and a lot of people were worried that the wins were pulling the covers over our eyes in respects to the deeper problems within the team.

I don't mind when we scrape wins, if its a good match and a narrowly deserved result. take the gretna game at home for instance. 2-0 down at half time, fletch comes on and creates the movement needed while zemamma turns on the quality. 4-2 us at full time, and what a great game; we recognised our problems and changed them.

If we scrape wins through luck alone, without showing the quality needed, then we are in trouble. if we had won on saturday, im sure there would still be a lot of people calling for Mixu's head, because, to be fair, that was shocking. If he had changed his formation at half time, sorted out the no-shows in terms of players and we had put on a display of superior quality, i would have a bit of faith in him. He continually shows his ignorance when stuck in a losing situation... never thought id say it but, bring collins back!!

You're right, I don't know what Mixu would do with the cash but if we got a midfield then aye we'd be better. I think we need cash for that. But, I don't know what's coming through the youth system so could be wrong.

It's getting pretty vitriolic on here. I think there was realisim on the 10 game run but right now there is a certain amount of folk moaning that wouldn't normally moan had we got a jammy win on Saturday.

I agree with the Gretna game (that was another game my son only lasted 'til half time!)

Re: 10 Games Unbeaten

I think the problem with Hibs at the moment is that you can see we have decent players and should in theory be beating the likes of St. Mirren, Caley etc but because of the system those players are being asked to play we are not winning games. The run under Collins was with players who it was thought would struggle to do anything in the league and who were winning games against the odds. I think that is the difference.
