I would be very surprised if RP had let him go without a sell on clause.

Re: kevin thomson sell on clause ?

I think there will be a sell-on clause..

The more you think about it, £8.5 Million for Brown, Thomson, and Whittaker combined.... Petrie certainly played a blinder when it came to robbing the Old Firm for those three.

Do you really think so? If they were english and moving between clubs you could double it,IMO KT was the the worst bit of business,SB and SW overpriced KT under valued big time.

But they weren't English...to get that sort of money for young laddies brought through our youth system was incredible IMO. We scored because the two clubs were trying to outdo each other in the transfer market at the time. Petrie knew this, and basically shafted the two of them big time.

Re: kevin thomson sell on clause ?

It was phenominal business by RP and if there are sell on clauses for these guys it will be the best bit of business done by Hibs in decades.

Re: kevin thomson sell on clause ?

Every Rangers fan I speak to through in the wild west doesn't rate Thomson so I don't think they would be upset at him leaving. However the manager seems to rate him highly as he plays him every week so I'd be surprised if they let him go tbh

I think KT has stopped developing as a footballer since joining the huns. Smith plays him as his muscleman in the middle of the park, and seems incessantly to be committing fouls and getting booked. He was a good tackler when he was with us, but he has taken it to a new and dirty level.

The transfer system works in a completely different way and is governed by what you need to pay the selling club for them to allow the player to leave and depends on the wealth of the two clubs involved.

If for example David Murphy played for Middlesboro then Birmingham when in the EPL need to offer as much as £4m as anything less isn't significant to Middlesboro so they wouldn't sell.

However because he plays for Hibs;Birmingham only need to offer £1.25m as this amount is very significant relative to Hibs turnover hence that's all you need to offer to persuade Hibs to sell.

Similiarly if West Brom want to buy Tweedledum from 'Scotland's Shame' then £3m -£4m will be the asking price because of the size of the clubs involved but would drop to £1.5m if Hibs were involved.

'Saint' Rodney surpassed himself getting £8m plus for these 3 Hibs players and he used the circumstances of the time to his advantage which were the appointment of Smith and the sacking of PLG and the fact that 'Broon' was a wanted man as 'Celtc' 'Scotland's Shame and 1/2 EPL clubs wanted Broon.

A Fifer called 'Broon' being a 'wanted man' now there's an irony.

Re: kevin thomson sell on clause ?

I would have KT back at hibs - why not?

My buddy worked beside his sister at SL, she told him that KT said none of that stuff and that his columns were ghost written by keek smacksun and the quotes in the daily ranker where from his agent, none other than.....yep you guessed it wullie mackay!!

I have since found out through admission that Keek did indeed write the ranker columns for KT.

What he was reported as saying was he would walk barefoot down the M8.

However, I think the "quote" was in a Keith Jackshun article and therefore may have been complete drivel. Jackshun wrote Katie's column in the Retard and frequently made up entire passages based on a twenty second phone conversation between the two. The "mummy and daddy need the money" story was a classic example.

EDIT: er......... I should have read the whole thread first. Stantons army nailed it above.

For the avoidance of doubt, anything stated in the above post is written without prejudice; is probably completely uninformed opinion, and possibly just a figment of my imagination. Readers should either ignore, treat with contempt, or simply accept the spirit it is written in, without recourse to huffy replies, legal action or threats of violence.
That includes YOU.

Re: kevin thomson sell on clause ?

Thats as maybe but for a Hibs captain and supposed Hibbee he should have at least read it and prevented it or nipped it in the bud. Nothing short of discgraceful episode IMO. Daft laddie. JC right to strip him of the captaincy.
