To all the Petrie haters.

After reading the story regarding Zemmama a lot of people here started slating the board again. When are people going to realize that Hibernian FC are of the best run clubs in Scotland.
We have just brought back Deeks which im sure Petrie got the best possible deal he could have for us,not only that he brings in another player on the same day.
He has turned the club around in a very short space of time and runs a tight ship.
IMO the man deserves nothing but respect from us fans. He takes on board what the fans think by bring back Deeks not only that but I believe that hiring Frank as manager was for us too.
Give the man the credit he deserves.

Well said that man.
At least we know we are run like a proper footbal club unlike hearts or chelsea , man city who are now killing the passion out the game with all the money. We will continue to develop our own home grown players instead of buying big that's just the hibs way but at least we will still have passion and not some foreign ownership who doesn't know the history or how much the club means to the fans. Too much money can be the downfall as if we spent big the fans expectations would rise the pressure on the manager would increase and the debt could come again. Every now and again spending is nice as we want to see talented players and I think Petrie has his moments of getting things right course he makes mistakes but who doesn't

Cut Rodders some slack because believe it or not he has hibs best intentions at heart

I've had my moments at times but I have mostly been supportive of Petire over the past few years. Some things have been hard to take but I think he knows when its time buy and sell. I commend him for bringing Riordan back and think he has done alot of good for this club that sometimes is forgoten in amongst all the player sales. People need to stop calling for him to resign every time we lose a game though, thats just irritating.

Re: To all the Petrie haters.

Most clubs would love to be in the posistion we are in. Almost dept free new training ground talks about a new stand. The board as a whole have worked wonders when you look back at where we were ten years ago.
One other thing that have impressed me is they way they conduct buisness and help players. Not many teams would have paid and rehabilitated Yantorno or let some ex players with no club let them use our facilites to keep fit. Just an all round great club.

Petrie haters ? I don't hate Rod, in fact he seems a pleasant enough bloke. I think he is too much of a bean counter, and has a too low horizon of ambition for his own (and the club's) good.

Re: To all the Petrie haters.

12m in transfer fees in. Signing a couple of players is the least we deserve as a season ticket holders. No point in having a training centre (that has a huge tranche of land with it and no one knows why we need this yet) and new stands with no one to fill them if there is no decent team on the park. I agree that we shouldn't get into lots of debt to achieve this but praise for Petrie who receives more than ample remuneration for his work ?
Hmmm...

I wouldn't go as far as 'pleasant' but he's certainly no demon. Agree with your other points though. He is certainly 'risk averse' as bean counters like to say.

The land came as a package. I don't think we could pick and choose the exact delineated area that we wanted. I don't think there is any 'hidden agenda' at all - and we could do without more conspiracy theories. Can't we just accept that we now have a top class training facility?

He gets a decent wage - no doubt about that.
He gets brickbats from us when we think he has got it wrong - why not a 'well done' if we think he got it right?

Who hates him? I certainly don't. I can't speak for others but i've never detected hatred for the man. There are many who are critical but to misrepresent that is hatred is IMHO pathetic and childish.

I would hate anyone who deliberately inflicted harm on our club but i've never accussed him of that.

I've been critical of Rod Petrie many many times. I stand by most of that criticism.

As a supporter/customer who puts money into the club i fell entirely comfortable being critical when i feel its justified of a guy who earns close on 200K a year.

Not knocking that figure - just pointing out that those earning such packages - do so because it carries certain responsibilities and a chairman of any football club is always going to be analysed by its support.

And that IMO is no bad thing.

Rod could improve his standing within the support IMHO if he improved on his PR. But that's the same for the club in general...

Re: To all the Petrie haters.

Points really to look at - Hibs went hugely into debt - top of my head around £17m. This was at a time when everyone was spending big.

The tv deal fell through. We then cut our cloth accordingly. My opinion of this era is the board and chef exec were OBLIGED to ensure Hibernian didn't go into receivership. Therefore there shouldn't be too much back slapping for this.

(However, looking at Motherwells conduct, we probably could have written the whole debt off!!)

Then we have "the golden generation". They were always going to move when the uglies came a callin. We should have held on to them all for another 18-24months. The reason being, I honestly think they were destined to win eother the league or a cup double. I feel the gunts would have paid them that bit more to keep them then seriously cashed in. They paid their spotty lesbian keeper HUGE wages in relative terms, then SERIOUSLY cashed in.

IMO with another excellent 1-2yrs and silverware, there would have been really huge transfers. I also think we benefitted hugely from John Collins, in making sure that we got fairly good prices. Surmising here, but I think that katy and broony would have went as a package, and probably half the cash.

So I wouldn't get too excited with the board on the golden genration front.

East Mains. Won't hear a bad word about this. Hugely well done tp the board.

All in all I think outside the old firm, we are the envy of them all. The gunts have their head seriously buried in the sand. They are fcuked. It may come good for them in probably won't. Every other team in the league would love our following, love our ground, love our training centre and love our players. The board can take a pat on the back for this.

Once again I find myself "on the couch" with Shrinky. Are you a shrink IRL?

With regard to the land. I wonder who owns it as it seems klike it might be a good long term investment. If it is the football club then good enough.

I'm happy enough that we seem to have signed a natural goalscorer. I just hope Riordan will repay the faith by working hard and not just relying on his talent.
So I'll type it out loud, "Thanks for a decent signing Mr Petrie, I hope this is the first sign of proper investment in our football team"

No medication required today, thank you doctor.

I think the accounts will show that we (Hibs) bought the land and built the complex rather than pay off more debt.
They should be out soon.

Some people will never be happy with Petrie or the board it seems. So lets have a look and what others choices we have.

1. We could let John Boyle from Motherwell open the purse strings and put us in the Sh1t.

2. Then theres David Murray who again likes to spend spend spend and rack up tens of millions of debt.

3. How about Brookes Mileson we all know how his fairytell end.

Re: To all the Petrie haters.

Petrie brought back Deek because the fans were starting to rebel . He had been personally abused at the Motherwell game and on monday there was a possibility that Deek was going to Hearts. If he had the crowds at ER would have plummeted, Petrie would have been abused at every game for the rest of the season and the club would have taken a hit in the pocket.

There was a lot of self interest for Petrie in a returning Riordan.

Now what is wrong with that post Dr Shrink? Oh yes my opinion doesnt count coz it doesnt match yours. I forgot sorry. And BTW what good is having a top class training facility if its going to be used as a celtic training facility? And i think a 'well done' is appropriate for the moment but it still doesnt change the way the club has went downhill. Like i said hopefully this signing is a sign of better things to come!
