Any code breakers out there?

Must have been mentioned before for previous games / seasons ....

During the Middlesbrough game when a corner was taken the kicker would hold the ball high in both hands before slinging it to the back post where big Rob Jones would head it back into the mêlée as best he could

. The first time the Middlesbrough players were flummoxed – the code clearly worked and we nearly scored! Well maybe!

The second time I think the Middlesbrough code breakers had been at work and a few of them knew what was happening and played accordingly.

By the time the code had been used for what seemed the hundredth time the Middlesbrough players knew exactly what was happening

and were running into space before the Hibs players!!!

Now while I don’t expect the Hibs players to run around with an Enigma machine on their backs;

1. Can we please sort out more than one code for corners, set plays? … Perhaps less conspicuous ones?

2. Can we please have more than one move?

Yep.

Jones is the target for at least 90% of corners

Not having a dig at Jones but I must say, set pieces are more varied and dare I say it, effective when Rob isn't playing.

I would say 99.99% of all set pieces ie free kicks & corners are aimed at Jones.

Our lack of creativity is embarassing.

Re: Any code breakers out there?

I think just before a free kick in a good position is taken the kicker should fake a shot (the wall will jump) and then slip it down the edge of the box where maybe obrien or zemmama would be for them to slide it back into the boxwhere fletch or keenan would finish.

Think of how players like Lampard and Gerrard score (except their long range ones

Re: Any code breakers out there?

i really wish we'd start using Jones as a decoy!

Teams usually double up and pin him back at corners, if we could get him running near post, dragging a few players with him, then there is a good chance for Nish and fletcher to get some room at the back.....

Let me take the corners. Legendary, both feet.

That'd solve everything. I can be like the guy who comes on to kick the field goals in American Rugby.

I agree, the 1 corner that wasn't aimed at Jones (when he was playing) was against Rangers at Ibrox when Murphy scored.
