Alan O'brien

Seems to be getting his first proper run in the team now long may it continue putting in a few decent performances aswell. Seems like a determined lad wanting to prove his doubters wrong and show the potential he has got. All he needs now is more confidence and hopefully result in him being important first team player a ivan sproule but with end product

Are you a critic of his? Where you a critic of his? Did you always believe he was a good player? or did anyone have him down as a dud and can admit about being proved wrong?

I always thought he would be worth waiting for, dont really know why but hopefully now that hes showing signs of improvement he can become a big player for us.

Thought he did no bad today, confidence can make such a big difference in a player.

Re: Alan O'brien

Liked the way he cut inside a couple of times rather than just hugging the touchline....his whippet like speed was evident when he chased the clearance in the first half and got to it at the same time as the boro player much nearer than he was.. wow

Which of course strted the discusion around me of who was fastest..Ivan or AOB..over 100m.....which moved onto well..I van had more skill....and so on

Never been one of his real critics as i always felt there was promise there. Must admit I thought his body language was all wrong for most of last season but I'm delighted to hear the latest reviews and looking forward to him becoming a major player.

Re: Alan O'brien

He seems to be getting into good positions, the problem is he rarely picks out a team mate when he does. No doubt he's improved on what we saw last season so lets hope that continues and we see the quality/potential he was reputed to have when with Newcastle.

Wouldn't say i was a critic but have criticised him at times. Mainly for lack of effort than anything else. Good to see he's inproving.

Re: Alan O'brien

I have to admit that I was one of those people who thought nothing of O'Brien. But after seeing his performance yesterday and I thought that he was one of our better players against Barcelona, I am now optimistic about his future at Hibs. When Mixu subbed him yesterday we actually missed him.

Yup and Im one of them , I always thought he had more to give ,and I just got pissed of with him ,and the shite he was producing that and the fact I think we were sold a pup.
So if your big enough to criticize you should be big enough to admit you were talking shecht so well done AOB ,that is till it gos tits up again and they will all be back slating whoever has not met up to scratch ,whether it be AOB , Kerr ,Mixu , Rankin , our chuckle brothers in goals , Chisholm , Canning , Deano no doing enough , Fletcher , Phil The Greek ,Jones , only pair that seem to get pass marks every week are Murray and Hogg , oh Ive just put my steel helmet on

Why is it when a mediocre player puts in an average performances (still admittedly a vast improvement) people are falling over them self to praise him. Are you all posts by Rodders, trying to spin we werenae sold a dud.

Never seen an outstanding performance from AOB yesterday, and won't hold my breath waiting for one.

Re: Alan O'brien

Done alright yesterday nothing special but better than any performance last season.

I would give him a 6/10 at best on yesterday's performance. His pre-season performances have been the only encouraging thing this pre-season.

He's still a bottler though, needs to be braver, but there's improvement there.

Re: Alan O'brien

From what i saw at the barca game he was only player bar shiels who didnt sh1t themselves when they got the ball. Even the mighty hogg crapped it a load of times. o'brien is playing with a bit of confidence now and he's looking good. He has a lot of making up to do for last season though cos he was mince. Some people have made thier mind up about AOB and they havent seen him kick a ball.

I still have doubts about AOB although he had a decent game yesterday although parts of his game are just a joke...clean through on goal, he should of had a shot but decided to pass the ball to a Boro player, hes not as good as previous players but still at this point better than alot of the players we have in our team.

I must admit I was dissapointed when after breaking form the half way line and arriving in the box in an inside left position...

he drew his foot back and instead on shooting passed the ball inside to nobody...

the small crowd groaned... even if he just shot straight at the keeper it wouldn't have been as bad...

he always seems to undo his own good work...

although he has improved a lot I think the jury is still out on him

I Think He Will Come Good, But needs to look up before he cuts the ball back inside, as he has to remember he is streaks ahead of everyone in terms of pace, and fletch, nish etc is still outside the box when he is crossing it.
even having a shot, nothing wrong with that just work the keeper, hope he has a good season, this will benefit us hugely

nah any other player doing as poorly as him, like Brian Kerr etc don't get the same kind of treatment.

as soon as O'Brien does
