Fair play to Mixu!

He came out and tried to play a 442, we were outclassed and taken apart by Messi time and again, but we had a go.

Positives were, Van Zanten, O'Brien, Deano (our MOM), and latterly Morais had a few good moments. The rest weren't a disgrace, just up against world class talent. I'm glad I went and I enjoyed seeing Barca.

When was Morais' moment?

Sorry but I can't agree with any of that apart from the fact we were totally outplayed. Basic defensive mistakes cost the first3 goals and that meant that after 17 minutes the game was over as far as competitive goes!We looked miles away from being a decent outfit.
Just my opinion tho'

Were you at the game, mate? DVZ did a good job stopping Bojan in the second half, and Morais was very lively.

I was their, and DVZ wasn't a positive IMO. However, a positive for me was that while ability wise, Morais didn't have the best game, he looked completely up for it, and kept plucking away.

Re: Fair play to Mixu!

I was behind the goal in the south stand & I agree that the performance of Barca made the night worthwhile, This is how football SHOULD be played, the difference in class was unquestionable and seeing football like this from the Catalonians was a joy to behold, For me, O'Brien, Shelids, Van Zanten and McNeil should hold their heads high, once the first goal went in it was always an uphill battle for us and this four done themselves proud. Ive said this before on the Bounce, Mixu is too inexperienced for this job, We love him for the Hibby he is and the memories as a player but his record as our manager begs too many questions. I caught some of the action (and some of the goals) on my digicam and will post them when I edit them. The result tonight will hurt us no question but we have to put it all into perspective, It was us against BARCELONA ffs, No contest and it showed, We can only hope Mixu can get some players in that can save us from a relegation battle next season, I for one lack optimism.

Lets not forget that the Yams and Dundee Utd didnt suffer such heavy defeats last year against an arguably stronger Barca team.
We were never going to come close tonight but a total dismantling in your own city was a bit embarrassing.

Yes I was at the game.

DVZ gets dragged all over the place and doesn't seem to know who he's supposed to be up against at any given time, Bojan was the first goalscorer in the 2nd half ay?

Morais is always lively, he looks great, his orange boots and davy crocket hair do are fantastic

I really like him. His dancing around, step overs and fancy back heel type manouveres generally amount to the square root of fcuk all. No, sorry you're right, he won us a corner tonight!

I thought DVZ gave them very little in the second half. I had doubts about his signing but he did okay in that second 45, given the level of opposition. Morais was putting in challenges and started off a few attacks.

Either Guardiola has transformed Barça instantly or we were very poor indeed. Time will tell, but I suspect it is more of the latter than the former.

I totally agree with your post and I'm afraid I will be embarrassed if anyone out here asks me if that was my team on TV the other night.

Fact is the no shows are the real losers, not Hibs. Mixu tried to put on a show. He maybe should have played Canning instead of Nish, and we would have lost 3-0 instead of 6-0, but he's not a bore like Walter Smith, and it was a friendly.

Aye, I'm devestated I didn't pay £25 to watch Hibs getting absolutely destroyed.

If Mixu was really trying to prove to everyone that Barcelona are football geniuses to do so, it was a huge success.

He'd have surely helped us play football.

Call me old fashined but losing 3-0 is better than losing 6-0?

And, are you actually blaming our defence or lack of cover when they were playing dozens of passes inside our box!

Quote:

Nah, Mixu is actually the worst of all worlds. He gets us playing as if the result is the only purpose, then sets out a team who can't achieve that.

O'Brien (who was one of our best performers incidentally) had a couple of good runs down the left in the first half. Our only shot on target was Fletcher just before he went off. Can't recall (m)any other shots apart from a couple that ended up in row Z. Maybe one of those was one of Morais' good moments?

Re: Fair play to Mixu!

I'm watching the re-run on Setanta now and we weren't that bad. I can add the boy Thicot to the plus points. Hogg had a total mare tho, with young Hanlon not far behind. Jones still has lapses when he should just get the ball into touch or make a challenge, still, 6-0 was maybe a bit harsh on us.

I know the feeling, I leave for Mallorca tomorrow and will catch up with my Barca supporting mates over there, one of whom is also now a Hibby. My answer when they ask about the gulf in class between the clubs is that Daniel Alaves alone is valued at more than the whole of Hibernian's playing squad, their salaries, the stadium, training ground and all the fixtures and fittings we have.

Why then did Hibs agree to this farce of a fixture, can you think of any positives that will come out of this?
