Just dawned on me that Stevenson could be the man to fill the midfield void left by Beuzelin. Stevenson has a good engine and is a fair passer, with Murray as enforcer it could be a good pair. Anyone else agree?? Gie the boy a chance alongside Murray in a 4-4-2 vs Barca.

aye you are right and at the same time if we could get a few of the tranent juniors boys we might have a team .....PISH .we dont have a team that will get us into the top six ,the generation of quality we had are gone stop pretending and yes the training grounds up to scratch its just that all the boys are not old enough to buy a drink so it will be a wee while before you see the fruits so for the next season or two sit back and watch bottom six football ,and i love hibs but no budget means no desire.

I agree if he gets his attitude right it could be very interesting. I can't wait for the season to start it might blow away some of the negativity!!

Unless a signing is made I think Steveson should get a chance, because others have had theirs and failed.

Stevenson will be a good player for us given the chance.... but there MUST be signings, no excuses! Hibs have to sign some fckng decent been there done it players.

I still think Lewis can be a big player for Hibs. He has real talent .

Stevenson has shown he can play but he has also demonstrated a lack of consistency with some poor performances last season. That's not meant to be a big criticism. It is down to being asked to do too much at a young age and also to expectations as a result of his brilliant CIS cup final performance.

The inconsisitencies show that it would not be fair to mark him down as the answer to our central midfield problems. We definitely need to invest in a quality central midfielder. But as we don't have anyone else yet, it could be interesting to give Stevenson a couple of games in CM to see how he does as he has a tendency to come inside. Still potentially the best young midfielder in the ER ranks at the moment.

As a matter of interest, what position did he play against Raith?

Apart from Hogg just who has been consistent for Hibs recently?

Oh and Stevenson is a young laddie. It's pretty much accepted that the second season is the toughest for a youngster.

Also, IMHO both JC & Mixu fecked his confidence by showing little faith last season.

I tried to say in my last post that he is young and therefore I don't expect him to be Mr Consistency.

I saw him play very poorly, I think in a match against Celtic at ER, where he was hauled off at half time. To be fair, I think he was playing LB that day and he has always looked more comfortable in midfield to me.

If he can find a balance somewhere between that and his cup final performance then he should have a good chance of getting more games. I like Stevenson so I don't know where you get the impression that I'm down on him.

Actually we're going to have quite a left footed midfield assuming Keenan will play there alongside Murray

Think Hibs have had a lot of left-footed players for a few years now. Also, Fletcher of course. Is Shiels not also mainly left-footed? Jones maybe? Could be wrong but I'm sure there are quite a few already who don't necessarily play on the left.

Not Shiels but definitely Jones , Murray , O'Brien , Stevenson , Fletch , Keenan (assuming he signs)
