I think i will add to the general feeling of negativity around this board!

It staggers me that as a premier league club we still go down the route of trialists. Surely we should be watching players and targeting the ones we need to take us to the next level.

A bit boys clubish approach for my liking. Its ok on the odd occassion and you will find the odd David Murphy out there but in general terms you end up with a pile of p1sh.

I am so frustrated with the way this club is being run and have very little enthuasism to get off my backside and follow the team i have supported for the past 30 years!

Signing Deeks will help ease my pain...............

I dont see anything wrong with it? Even if your certain a players going to be brilliant theres no harm in getting him on a trial and play with the team in a few matches that dont have that much importance...

100% correct mate. That's the level that the Board want us to operate in though. Truely disgusting

Boozy came as a trialist,even Franck Sauzee had to play in a bounce game to asses him.

Not really. He was knocking on a bit and had a dodgy knee/s. When we were going to launch 6500k a week at him its best to be safe than sorry.Shame we didnt do it with Jarkko Wiss.

booozy was a trialist. there's nothing wrong with it. so long as you have a real good look at them in bounce games & training then there's nowt wrong woth it. how many times do you read players going on trial with top engerlish clubs.

Sorry but the original post is just silly. As a number of posters have pointed out, many of our best players of recent years have played at Hibs as trialists before signing. Of our present squad many of the more gifted/solid players- Benji, Zemmama, Canning- played as trialists. Most clubs take players on trial. As long as the manager has good contacts, and an eye for a rough diamond (e.g. Mowbray being able to see that David Murphy was an excellent but unfit player) then there is no problem.

think the reason for benji and zemmama were brought here on trial is that they were bloody morrocan ffs

Canning is a decent player I think. Solid, hard in the tackle, no-nonsense. Better at centre half than right back I think, but a decent player.

David Murphy was unfit and unproven, boozy was cheap (at first). I have no problem with trialists, as long as it is players that have been recomended to Mixu by someone he trusts, not a lucky bag from the cornor shop. We shall just have to wit and see.

at what level though m8 ? have we dropped our standards ? he is no better defender that is available at lower premier league clubs, building a team to challenge the old firm or finish 3rd ?
