Time for Petrie to go ?

Reading all the complaints about Mr Petries running of our club, is it about time he moved on ? or can he win back the growing number of disgruntled fans ?

Hibs are in a strong financial state but we have no ambition!

We need to spend and to accumulate support and therefore finance.

Imagine if we had kept........O'Connor, Riordan, Sproule, Thomson, Whitty and so on, we would have been in debt slightly but probably won the Scottish and maybe the league. Then we would have been in the Champions League and earned millions and then spiralled into a big club like Hearts! At present any decent player is sold and we keep filling Mr P/Mr F's bank accounts.

I agree it is time for change, we need investment and someone with ambition and slightly more risk/return. Is Mr P not an Accountant? ££££

The problem is he is only carrying ou the instructions of his master..Tom Farmer. If your asking would I like to see us under new owners with a greater understanding of the football side then the answer would be yes. Balancing that tho you have to be careful what you wish for, although I doubt Farmer would sell up to some maniacal Lith in the way Hearts sold their soul.

Petrie and Farmer are building solid foundations for this club. You will all look back in 10 years time and praise them for it. The rest of the SPL will dwindle further down the debt road and wish they'd had the stubborn board in which we are so very lucky to have.

Its no fun right now mind you, but when the farts are rubbing shoulders with the likes of Third Lanark and Bon Accord F.C, we should be finishing 3rd and playing in Europe on a regular basis against the likes of Ajax and Villarreal.

I take it rod petrie has shown you his financial gameplan for the next 10 years, why hasnt he shared it with the rest of us ? he has systematically sold every player that is worth any value and replaced it with dross. surely for eg the scott brown sale to the tune of 4m, he could have maybe bought a replacement for the player say, around the 1m mark, then using 3m for debt or buildings ?,

does he have to take the lot out of every player sale, who's is going to fill our stadium watching 11 £100K players ?

when the 4th stand is eventually completed, allowing for around 20,000 hibbys to watch there team, just one point, who is paying for the team to attract these 20,000 fans ? or is his gameplan to include strengthening the team season by season until we play ajax in 10 years time, tell me , when the fuck is this going to start, master plan my arse !

Petrie also sanctioned Judas's spend spend spend philosophy and increased the debt did he not?

Re: Time for Petrie to go ?

I rspect the man and his team for clearing £15,million pounds worth of debt and having quality training facilities. But theres always a but. He says we do not have to sell but we always do. Granted any player who wants money will make it happen, but our reluctance to part with any great sum of cash is dissapointing. No matter we have spent money on Rankin, Nish, O'Brien etc recently. Managers cant be expected to come third with the likes of replacing Scott Brown with free transfers ...Brian Kerr. How times have changed. For the better in the long term future of the club, but short term 3 years ago we were laughing at the quality of players we had.

Re: Time for Petrie to go ?

For as long as Tom Farmer remains the owner of Hibernian Football Club, Rod Petrie will remain as chairman. The only other way he may depart is if he manages to find another higher paid job in the world of Finance.

He was brought to Hibernian by Tom Farmer for various reasons. To manage the finances of the club and ensure that it has a solid base to build on, and to ensure that we never go back to the dark days of the late eighties and early nineties. Off the park Hibs have been a success story over the last few years, but fans (rightly) have little interest in all that. They want success on the pitch.

IMO Farmer will sell/hand over the club after the East Stand is completed. I have no idea who our next owners will be, but hopefully they will be people who have the ability and ambition tobuild on the financial stability which has been created over the last few years, and take the club forward.

would building the new stand not put us back into debt ? who is paying for it ? do we sell fletcher to pay for some of it ? years have past and farmer has not gambled a penny into the first team, only into our bricks , how much does he stand to make by selling our club ? does this mean we have suffered this tight period for nothing just to make our club worth more, who benefits the most if farmer sells ?

Sorry, i dont see your point at all. Why do you think in ten years time we will be finishing third and in Europe. To do that we would have to invest heavily in the team something the board will absolutely not entertain.
We are almost debt free now yet the funds being released are only allowing the incumbent manager to scrape the barrel with the quality of player coming in. Do you honestly believe Petrie and Farmer would be any different in 10 years.
That is of course providing they will be here in 10 years and not sold off the club and all the land for a huge profit.

agree completely i would keep petrie until we are up to 15-20 mil then just let the manager of that time spend it all then with a smart manager and a good eye for talent/upcomeing talent
oh and by the way just for the fun part of this if we were as much into debt as hertz we'de be beeting the likes of man u and ajax

Yes he did, but let me tell you....for once in my life I was so excited going to watch the players that were in his team....I have been following Hibs for 30 years and the thought of seeing Russell Latapy play for us was terrific...so what if they were overpaid....Id pay double the gate money to watch him rather than dross like Kerr, Jones etc....
