What was your other team out of interest?

We cant compete with championship clubs because they have alot bigger wage budgets than us and spending power.

Beuzelin wasn't actually sold, he left Hibs after completing the full term of his contract.

I would suggest that money is the main factor.

Re: Please explain

Simply, lack of money.

Clubs in the Scottish Premiership just can't pay the wages that the Premiership clubs can because there isn't anything close to the same TV revenue up here.

The SPL as a whole is not that good and probaly no better than the Championship even the two biggest teams in Scotland Rangers and Celtic wouldn't do very well down South there just isn't the money to compete.
Hibs are a selling club and need to sell to bring money in to improve, We have basically almost cleared our debt and are now looking at going forward.

Re: Please explain

I think that if Hibs were playing in the english championship we'd be at least mid-table and within a couple of seasons pushing for promotion. I think that most of the chamionship teams are quite average and tend to beat each other which makes for a competitive league.

Re: Please explain

I think most players would leave their spl clubs for the championship due to the higher wages on offer. Boozy also quoted the fact that playing the same teams so often over a season ( possibly six or seven times in some cases ), make the spl boring after a few seasons. I think he's got a point there.
Apparently, the Championship is the fourth richest league in the world.

Re: Please explain

It's unfortunate, but if we travel just over one hundred miles south, we are in a country that plays host to the richest league set up in Europe. I think the championship, the fourth richest league in Europe, is a huge step up financially for mediocre players that play in Scotland. I don't think the standard is too much higher in terms off football but finacially it's massive. This was not the case BS (before Sky), as we picked up a few players from Englands lower leagues.
I think it was KK that stated, in his first stint as NUFC boss, he made an inquiry about a left back that played for Southend....he was quoted 3 mill....KK told them to bolt. Certaily Boozy has gone for the dosh...which is human nature....what I cant get my head around is that Cardiff are prepared to pay a staggering £2.5m for Kriss Boyd.....Is it me or am I watching a different player???? That for me sums up the state of English lower league football!!!!

As in the Kris Boyd with the best goals to game ration in Scotland? Don't see why he wouldn't do a job at Cardiff.

Because of Sky, teams in Scotland with much greater reputations and histories can't compete with clubs like Burnley or Colchester who have done hee haw.

I beg to differ Manders.

Sure the EPL and to an extent the Championship are floating in cash and we arent. As John Terry mentioned earlier we had a chance to do a deal but the SPL/SFA/SFL or whoever decided they could get a better deal elsewhere and turned to Satan TV [the deal for which afaik was that the bigot bros got 70% of the cash availabe but thats another story].

Anyway back on track, despite being awash with cash the EPL has half a dozen or so really decent teams and Celtc and Scotlands Shame would live pretty well in that league - bear in mind that the once they were on the gravy train there would be enough money for them to compete. They also have a much bigger support than a lot of teams presently in the EPL. I wish they could go to the EPL but Scotlands Shame blew that one out of the water with the Manchester shenanigans.

As to other SPL teams - Hibs, Aberdeen, Dumpdee Utd, the gunts on their day and even Murderwell if they played the way they did last year could comfortably compete in the Championship and again once in that league they would get the same fiscal benefits as all the other teams. I agree with aorman in the respect that most of the teams in that league are average and we could indeed push for promotion in a couple of years. How we would fare in the EPL after that promotion is another topic altogether.

The English leagues are bumped up by the commentators most of whom are english and most of whom think the EPL is the greatest league in the world. It might be but it still isnt that much better [if at all] than leagues in other countries where the endless seam of cash doesnt exist.

At the end of it all though, I would prefer Hibs to play exactly where they are now so all this is largely academic

As I recall, the SPL gang planned their own TV channel. This was all set up and company in embryonic stage when guess what.....................

The Old Firm did an about face and refused to co-operate, wanting their 'own TV rights' and effectively screwing the deal for everyone. THAT was the reason that SKy was dumped. Yet again the Old Firm Fcuked over everyone else to try and line their own pockets.

Then came Satan TV
