Mascot

The hibs mascot (sunshine the leith lynx) is never used.

I think That having a mascot get the fans up for games is a good idea

thoughts?

Re: Mascot

Maybe it would be a good idea. If it makes the kids happy, then why not? The kids seem to like the mascots.

There's enough clowns on the park without employing one in a suit to run around like a dafty.

That one at Tynecastle really annoys me, why do they have a giant weetabix for a mascot anyway?

Re: Mascot

Seem to recall at the time they introduced the Lynx there was a survey of one of the listening groups and debate on the main two websites as to whether there was a desire for a mascot at all.

The end result - having a mascot but it only being used in the family areas inside the FF before games and at HK events was the compromise. Most people over the age of 8 said they were not fussed at having a Hibs mascot?

I don't think the Hibs Kids would be able to join in with the songs being sung at a mascot.
To get the crowd a bit more pumped up, why not bring on an ex-player to do the half time draw again. Jorg Albertz got the biggest cheer of the day from the unwashed when we pumped them at Hunbrox earlier this season.

And 11 year olds Landells given that thats Connals age. FWIW I dont think we need a mascot but even though we dont use the one we have he still has the coolest name of the lot.

Sunshine, the Leith Lynx is a cool name for our mascot

Should maybe bring it out on Hibs Kids days. Those are usually against 'lesser' teams like St. Mirren, Killie and hertz, where there isn't much of an atmosphere and it may boost it a little. Also, the chance to see Jamies head exploding with rage would be an added bonus

I think it would be brilliant if they had Sunshine the leith lynx chase people dressed in hearts tops around the edge of the pitch for 10 minutes before the game, then pouncing on them and eating them, or something to that effect.

Re: Mascot

Regarding Sunshine, he is a mascot FFS and as such is for the kids NOT for the benefit of the adults and can I ask how many kids were at any of the listening groups that voted ?

Has anyone seen how many kids hang around at the track down by the dugouts whilst the players warm up and IMHO a mascot would keep them occupied and give the odd adult or two a laugh every now and then as well. You should see the reaction from the kids at the Christmas pantos when he makes a show along with the Hibby Santa, their wee faces light up and the amount of cuddles and high fives that Sunshine gets tells a story that a hundred words couldn't possibly express. Sunshine even got asked for his autograph last Christmas

Can I also say that the person/persons who dons the suit do not get payment to do so. Like myself, they do it for the love of the club and fans. I run the Family corner, with the help of other volunteers, in the famous five prior to our home games and just to let you know there is going to be big changes there if all goes to plan.

The kids won't be disappointed but what's the bets an adult or three will have something negative to mump their gums about.

To end with can I just remind folks that Sunshine is for the kids not the adults and to remember that next time you are asked your opinion regarding his involvement with Hibs.
