IF Elfsborg v Hibernian - The Independent Tour details - Updated July 3
It would seem that a fair number of us are travelling to Sweden to see Hibernian play. This thread will be used to compile all the information we gather for the trip over the 'summer is a bummer' close season. Please add anything relevant by posting the information below. [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] versus [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] Kick Off 15.30 Sweden, Currency Swedish Kroner - Around 12 Kroner = a Quid Date: 12th of July, kick off time 15.30. Stadium [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] with a capacity of 14,500. They play in the Western Swedish Town of [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register], pronounced Boorus, 45 miles inland from the city of Gothenburg. It has a population of around 100,000 people. Updated 21st of June Tickets, a separate section will be set aside for Hibernian supporters. Tickets will be for sale on the day from two ticket kiosks outside the stadium. If your lost, look for the signs saying 'GASTANDE SUPPORTERS' which is 'Away Fans' in Swedish I am told. Hibs tell us that whilst prices have not been set yet, it is expected to be 100 - 120 Kroner (£9.50 to a tenner) for an adult to get in and half price for kids with tickets available on the day at the stadium. It is expected that between 100 and 200 Hibs fans will be at the match, with around 6-7000 Elfsborg fans expected. Please note that the game could go to extra time and penalties and independent travellers are recommended to take a swatch at the bus timetables back to Gothenburg. The stadium is a 20 - 25 minute walk north of the town centre and costs around ten pounds or 110 Kroner in a taxi. Elfsborg do sometimes run buses between the town centre and the stadium on match days. Neither Hibs or the bounce know whether this will be happening and what the script is. IF Elfsborg, are, at time of writing, 2nd in the Swedish Allsvenskan 2008 'Premier League'. They play in yellow and are considered one of the big clubs in Sweden, last winning their championship in 2006!!! Not a wee diddy team here. For the hungry heeds, there is a large Swedish Burger Joint right outside the stadium called 'Max'. Its very popular with the scran minded. The Elfsborg Club shops are in the adjoining large shopping mall the Knalleland Centre beside the stadium and we believe there is a second one in Boras town centre. Getting there Updated 21st of July Can we point out that there is only a Honorary British Consul in Gothenburg and Hibs recommend that all fans carry a second copy of there passport in there wallet. For info there is an ATM at the Gothenburg City airport from FAQ page Can I change money at the airport? Is there a cash machine? There is a cash machine (ATM) on the outside, left end of the terminal. Here you will be able to cash Swedish money, but also Euro and Pounds (GBP). This thread was started before we knew that we would be playing on the Saturday at 15.30 and the early travellers had paid significantly more to travel on the Friday and return on the Monday, all bar one of us using Ryanair to Gothenburg City Airport. Since the time and date have now been as confirmed as they can be, Hibernian FC has asked us to add a few notes regarding travelling for those who are now flying in and out Saturday and Sunday and with other airlines, which we are happy to do. The vast majority of Hibs fans seem to be flying into either [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] with [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] via Prestwick, Stansted or even Frankfurt Hahn or by KLM from Edinburgh via Amsterdam and arriving in [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]. Updated 19th of June - Hibs have asked us to point out the following: Gothenburg Airport (also know as Save Airport) is in the Northwest of Gothenburg. There is NO direct transport links between this Airport and Borås. Details of transport at the airport for those arriving before Saturday are given below. However for those arriving on Saturday to this airport on the Prestwick Flight with Ryanair should note a review of bus times from the airport to Gothenburg and then onto Borås suggests that there is not enough time to make it there by public transport. Feel free to try, but note we suggest you rent a car to ensure you get there on time. This is what a number of fans are doing. Prices for flights vary from £170 upwards now. Updated June 21st 2008 - Those of us travelling earlier than Saturday with Ryanair - Once in Gothenburg City Airport, there is a bus into Gothenberg City Centre. Turn right as you come out the terminal (its a tiny wee place) and pay on the bus. It is 60 kroner single, 110 Kroner return which is around a £5 and £10. Kids under 8 are free. It leaves 50 minutes after the flights arrive or when the bus is full and drops you off at the main bus station, the sexy sounding Nils Erikson Terminal taking 25 minutes. City Airport Bus Times are: Prestwick Flight Friday - Bus leaves Airport at 17.30 and gets you there at 17.55. Stansted Flight Friday Lunchtime - Bus leaves Airport at 15.50 and gets you there at 16.15 Stansted Flight Friday Teatime - Bus leaves Airport at 21.55 and gets you there at 22.30 Those flying in with KLM arriving in [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register], the bus from that airport is One Way 80 Kroner and a Return is 150 Kroner, about £7.50 and £14 to Gothenburg. Hibs tell us you get a bus straight to Boras from this airport, however as none of the bounce travellers are using this route on the saturday, we have not researched this option in any detail. Prices straight to Boras from Landvetter are 80 Kroner single (around £7). A single on the Bounce International Buses back to Gothenburg will be 100 Kroner. PM 1875 if you need more details. The same bus company do both airports, see [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]in English. Digs To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. Most of those booked up have booked all three nights in the [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register], it works out at £60 a night a room, or £30 a skull. The Hotel, is a Boatel and is in fact a converted ship that sits in Gothenburg Harbour. A few of the bounce travellers have stayed there and reckons its fine and near the food and peeving facilities. Added 17/5: Ibis rooms - There's a small double bed and a single that pulls down from the wall in each room.Added June 1The hotel is fully booked on the Sunday night now. Getting from the Bus Station to the Love Boat. Updated June 21st 2008 - Looks like its about a 1 kilometer walk from the main station. A taxi is around a tenner I believe? I have called the Loveboat and the suggest it is a ten minute walk from the station, and we should look for the sign saying 'GULLSVASS'' and follow it, it will take us right there To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. On Saturday night a number of us are planning to stay over night in Boras. We have found a nice wee cheap Mini Hotel and Hostel in Boras City Centre, called the [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] with rooms from £15 to £25 per person per night. Some of the others Bouncers are booked the Friday, Saturday and Sunday Night in Boras. Gothenburg to Boras and back To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. To quote the Northern Soul Classic, 'Lost Summer Love', ....................................'the Summer is Over and the fitba's started'. Hibees Bounce Tours 'International' are delighted to announce details of the the bus(es) to and from Gothenburg to the Borås..... We have been working with Jerry Sjögren, a Gothenburg Hibby, and a member of the FC GAIS website [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] who's is helping us with the arrangements for the trip. We are providing coach(es) from Gothenburg to Borås with the same company that GAIS supporters normally travel with, we are currently in discussions with the bus company regarding the time of return from Borås as we would like to spend a few hours post match mixing with the Elfsborg fans and having a post match digestif or two. Provisional Details are: Times Meeting at the 11.00 am, July 12th 2008, The Dubliner Pub at 11:00. Coach(es) will depart from a square called Gustav Adolfs Torg just beside the pub. Travel to Borås is around 1 hours, where we will stop at a local pub in Borås before the game for some sustenance and lubrication and then on to the bus again for transportation to the stadium? Post match we are currently discussing the departure time, with the plan being that will have a few post match libations in Borås with the Elfsborg fans before heading back to Gothenburg around 20.00. A suitable post match pub in Borås is currently being 'reconnoitered'. Updated June 21st 2008 - Hibs have reccy'd the pub we propose to use and confirm its a decent boozer in the heart of Boras. Those not travelling with us on the bus, pop me a pm and I will fill you in on our plans. We dinnae advertise to avoid silly high jinks and scufflating between hoolibums To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. Price The Adult Fare is 150 Swedish Kroner return (£13), payable on the day to Colin Dudgeon and myself. Kids under 16 travel free. We will be collecting payment in the Dubliner before we leave. The coaches are 55 seaters and come with the usual luxuries like seatbelts that are never worn, a non flushing toilet, a sink with neither soap or water, a drinks machine that disnae work and a smoking ban that is often ignored. Music will be provided by DJ Extrordinaire Zondervan, who's CD for last years Mini Bus rides from Munich to Vocklabruck and back had us howling for hours. We have over 20 Swedes to come along...Jerry is coordinating that element. Please see see this thread[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]for more details of the bus Note: Due to travel restrictions and road works on the North Sea, bounce tours will not be picking up at the Royal Nip, Gunner, Centurion or Deer Park on this occasion. Independent Travellers: Updated June 21st 2008 I now have a copy of the train timetable to and importantly from Boras. As the game could go to extra time and penalties, it could end up we are still in Boras at the back of six. Those travelling on the bounce buses, we have booked the coaches to return at 20.00 whether that is at the game or in a boozer is nae bother. Those making there own way, the last train back to Gothenburg from Boras leaves at 18.45 from the main station, getting you back to G'Burg an hour and five minutes later. There are buses back leaving at 3 minutes past the hour from Borås Resecentrum until midnight and again from 3 onwards every hour, you hope..... Prices seem to be 82 Kroner , (£7) and 5 Kroner each way for Kids (44p!!). Be careful though as many of the 'trains' listed are in fact buses. Added 15/5: SJ seem to run both. Tagbuss and Lansbuss indicates Bus!! [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] Car Hire Update - 30th of June For those Hiring Cars at Gothenburg City Airport - Mind and pre book any hire cars, the car hire places at Gothenburg City/ Save Airport only open for pre booked cars at weekends. We recommend you call your car hire company to confirm they are open and know about your booking. [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] The Bevvy - Updated June 14th Again, Gothenburg Hibs are proposing a wee sesh in the Dubliner Pub. Jerry runs a GAIS supporters club and has suggested we meet in the Dubliner? Come to The Dubliner early and hook up with the Swedish Hibs boys. All Hibs supporters will be welcome. Updated June 21st 2008 - Hibs have had a look at the Dubliner and concur its a good boozer, plenty room, friendly, big screens and after re-mortgaging your house, a good bevvy can be had. The bar, called the Dubliner, [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. The bar holds all the GAIS functions. I know its 'another effin Irish bar,but Jerry reckons its the best bar in Gothenburg??? The Dubliners normal nightclub starts at 9 and closes at 3 or 5 in the morning. The live music in the Dubliner both Friday and Saturday will be provided by 'Boner' where sounds ehh, Scandinavian, if ye get ma drift? Updated June 21st 2008 -The latest beer price of pint list for the Dubliner is here... Guinness (Irish Black Gold) 54 Kroner (£5) Kilkenny (Irish Heavy) 54 Kroner (£5) Grolsch (Dutch Lager) 54 Kroner (£5) Staropramen (Czech Loony Juice) 54 Kroner (£5) Boddingtons (Its Grim Up North Bitter) 54 Kroner (£5) Pripps Blå (Swedish Lager made by Carlsberg 5.2%, so strong enough) 50 Kroner (£4.50) Carlsberg Hof (Just your normal pint of Carlsberg, 4.2%) - 50 Kroner (£4.50) Stor Stark (a 400ml glass of whatever the local lager is) - 46 Kroner (£4.20) Lättöl (low Alcohol Beer, same as the 20p cans of beer from the supermarket) 28 Kroner (£2.50) Local Pear Cider is 54 Kroner (£5) There seem to be a few tales about how expensive Sweden is. I work with a Swedish lassie and she reckons Sweden is cheaper than Ireland and about the same price as the UK, I am not so sure. One bouncer posted a price list for beer in pubs in Gothenburg which makes happier reading, see here Bars in [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] There is a chain of Swedish Bars that are styled around an English type pub, called the '[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]. There are a few in Gothenburg and one in Boras. Scran seems reasonable and a pint seems to sell for around £3.80 a pint? A handy hint is to buy a few cans from the supermarket, but be aware, Swedish Supermarket Beer is very low strength at around 2.7 alcohol by volume, so check what you are buying! Quote:
To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. By all accounts, fast food is king and the pizzas are cheap at around a fiver, kebabs are meaty, beaty, big and ehhh filling, and food like hot dogs, sausages, etc are affordable, smorgasbord (open sandwiches) is in fact hard to find and expensive, and the usual healthy options from McDonalds and suchlike are everywhere. The Burger and Prawn and Crayfish Ciabatta at the bounce pre match pub are highly recommended! One hint for the ''mair kultchured'' Hibby is the cheap 'menu del dia' arrangements which offer a decent 2 or 3 course lunch for 5 to 8 quid. Many places do them, so keep an eye for them. Added 17/5: Things to do when no drinking Sunday in G'Burg - THE GAIS Game is cancelled, which is a pity. Amusement park I think I might head here on the Suy now...........[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]. Only about £7 to get in too. An open air swimming pool in Boras Those who care for a cooling dip or a swatch at the Scandinavian beauties, it seems there are two major swimming pools in Boras, one of which is outdoors, should the weather be agreeable. [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] It as to be better than Gorgie Farm Weather This might help with your packing! Looks like it will be dry, if overcast weekend, nae rain and around 19oC? Last thing Getting back from Prestwick. Seems a fair few of us will be flying back to Prestwick on the Monday Evening. If we were to arrange a bus back from the Airport dropping in say Glasgow City Centre, Livingston and Edinburgh, would people be up for it? Price would be a £10 flat fare and is dependent on numbers? Click here and leave you details if you need a lift? [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] Care to add to this, just stick any info or thoughts you have in a post below..... Tack very much.

I had been looking at this for getting to and from Boras on the Saturday (assuming that's the day of the game!). The last one leaves at 23:05 getting back to Gothenburg at 00:02. SJ seems to run train and bus, it seems to read that the transport between the two towns is bus, costing 41SEK, is this the way yous read it? |

GOING OUT From Glasgow (Prestwick) (PIK) to Gothenburg City (GSE) Fri, 11Jul08 Flight FR7892 Depart PIK at 14:00 and arrive GSE at 16:45 Does the all times local bit mean I'm arriving in Goteburg at 16.45 Swedish time? If it does that means I've got 3 hours to get from the airport to the Boras hotel, that should be plenty time. Might even catch the Textile Museum and the Library Museum still open if i'm really lucky. |
