Positives and Negatives

This has clearly been a turbulent season at Easter Road, but what has been the biggest positive and negative to come out of the current campaign for you?

A few ideas...
Positives : The financial situation at the club becoming probably the most stable in the country, the form of Steven Fletcher and his rise to the international scene, the return of Donald Park, finally having two reliable goalkeepers vying for the first team place, Zemmama's new found reliability, beating both sides of the Old Firm, the emergence of Paul Hanlon, the return of Ian Murray, Mixu Paatelainens appointment, progression with plans to upgrade the stadium, Chris Hogg's consistency, the new training facilities, finally signing Colin Nish, finishing above Hearts, or maybe the fact that we're still challenging for a European place after such a topsy-turvy season?

Negatives : Alan O'Briens disappointing first season, our apparent lack of real ambition in the transfer market, the recent trend of poor quality imports being preferred over youth, Lewis Stevenson's promising start hitting a plateau, David Murphy's departure, our disappointing showing in the cup competitions (particularly in defending the CIS), being unable to maintain our form (or at least results) from the first quarter of the season, the death knell sounding for the East Stand, Benji's season, John Collins departure and the apparent lack of financial backing for our managers (still), Thierry Gatheussi, our style of football, Mixu Paatelainen's appointment (!), the lack of form between our early season first choice midfield paring of Boozy and Kerr?

Being top of the league, if only for 24 hours, and winning at Tynie were two highlights for me. Also the form of Chris Hogg, Fletcher, Murray and Zemamma, who have all been excellent.

One big negative is the style of football we've been playing, been a long time since we dominated against a team at ER. Kerr and O'Brien have been big disappointments as well

Mixu has fans who think he will be a great appointment and others who think that he has been a step backwards, I felt it right to offer it as a suggestion to both. Opinion is still very much split on him. FWIW, I think he's made us a harder team to beat, but much less enjoyable to watch. Now, does that make it a positive or negative...

Id take less attractive football (not obv to Rangers standards) if it means improved results and actually challenging for things, but if were doing no better than previous seasons then is a pointless sacrifice!

Think Shiels hitting good form at the end of the season is a positive, it looked like he was off for a while but now he's staying which is good, great player!

I think the problem that Mixu has had to face is that he has followed JC and TM both whose managerial philosophys were to get the ball on the deck and move it around (especially the latter). Mixu's team might not be as entertaining as TM's was, but I dont think it is as bad as people make it out to be. Against the huns, while their were a few boring moments, we did have some good footballing moments, and seemed to look to consistantly attack the huns.

The main difference between TM's and Mixu's regimes is not so much their managerial philosphys, more just down to the players they have available to them. Mixu just doesn't have the players to play attacking, attractive football, otherwise I'm sure we would be. Hopefully over the next couple of seasons he'll get that sorted though

Positives - Maka & McNeill battling for the gloves.Wasnt convinced with Maka early doors but he looks reasonably solid of late.Great to see McNeill bouncing back.After the last few seasons it good to have a competent keeper for a change.

Negatives - Only being 4 points ahead of the big team and no 2nd ER derby to ram it up them.SPL wank wank wank...

Negatives - O'Brien and Chisolm getting his game ahead of Stevenson for no apparent reason
