For me it was, I would say that our priorities were the full backs, and possibly a Midfielder who is a big tackling ball winner, but can pass the ball about aswell.

Cheers for the part you have played this season Gatthuessi. Some very good displays, MotM games and some very poor ones.

I tend to agree. With the emphasis more on passing than ballwinning when it comes to the midfielder.

Will have to reserve judgement on DVZ though.

Yes. The number one priority as far as I'm concerned. Next up, a left winger.

Re: David Van Zanten

According to mates of mine who have season tickets at Love Street, on his day this guy can be as good as Whittaker was for us the season before he left. Unfortunately, that's not what we need from our full backs, IMO. I'm told the guy "can't defend for his life". That was OK with SW, because he had Scott Brown infront of him - ie someone who would run about daft tracking back. I thought SW got a bit exposed as a defender when Ivan Sproule was playing infront of him, as Ivan didn't really give him any help - can see this happening to van Zanten if he's played as a full back with Zouma or Sheils on the right wing. However, these guys are St. Mirren fans, so perhaps their judgement regarding football players isn't to be trusted.

However, I do hope that Mixu signs some solid midfield players to stop this from happening, and that van Zanten does turn out to be as good a player for us as SW did. And hopefully we can sell him to Celtic, and they can pay us a couple of million quid for a player they knocked back a few years ago!

What about going for Mark Kerr from Dundee United. His contractg is up at the end of the season and is leaving The Yams and Dons are favourites to get him? I would take him at ER has a good workrate anyone else take him?

Same situation this time last season with the Kerr we have the now. Would this Kerr get further with the Hibs support than Brian? Both are very similar players.

Good point! I think that Mark Kerr has a better workrate than what Brian has!!
If we can't get him we could always fork out 250K for Willo Flood.

Re: David Van Zanten

well van zanten your welcome to hibs from me always give players a chance to show what they are about and unlike SOME out there i dont judge before a ball is kicked

why is there hibs fans who seem to think this is a poor move and isnt a big enough player for us? hes a proven spl player i would say that's probaly ambitious hibs will be able to get at this current time some fans out there seem to think we are much bigger than we really are well am afraid that is not the case we will continue to pay average wage then can only afford players from spl apart from old firm of course

so gee the guy a break
