Picked up the "Record PM Edinburgh" free rag on the bus home from work. Was shocked to read on the back page that Craig Rocastle is heading back to Easter Road for a trail.

Dont really know what all the hubba baloo is all about to be honest. Fair enough he rejected the chance to stay with us the first time but I think people forget that a guy young and ambitious going to be far away from his family and friends it is a big step to commit to a club in a different country.
Still we saw the best of Rocastle and if he could capture his form whilst he was here I dont think anyone should be caring. Its in the past now lets get on with it and give the guy another chance. If Mixu sees fit so be it.

So Derek Riordan is allowed to move away and exchange the "pittance" he was getting for more money, but Craig Rocastle is not allowed to seek more cash elsewhere than we can offer?

Come on mate, double standards. I think yer letting your thirst for playing devils advocate over the Riordan debate get in the way of holding Rocastle in the same light

If Derek had been away elsewhere playing regularly to such an extent that he was emptied left, right & centre i'd have serious concerns about him coming back.

However, he's not been playing by and large. Mind you when he has been surprise surprise he's scored.

Anyway, Deeks isn't coming back is he?

I agree. Port Vale, relegated to League 2 and he wasn't even good enough for them.

It's only a trial, not like we have signed him.

Mixu and the coaching staff will have a look at him and make a decision on that. If Mixu thinks he can do a job for us, by all means I would welcome him back.

Still not sure if this is true though.

I would agree with that and just add that Rocastle by all accounts didnt sign for us for the simple reason he wanted to and believed he could break into the [was it] chelsea first team. He didnt manage that and has slipped down a league or two. He was good enough for us then and we didnt get him but it would be pointless to let sour grapes get in the way of welcoming him back if he still has something to offer.

to be honest when you are on loan from a club like chelsea, you have got to think that the reason they are loaning you out is to build your experience for a future in the first squad. So if I had to decide between staying at chelsea or signing for a smaller club north of the border id stay with chelsea (purely as a footballer who is theoretically un-attached to hibs)

I don't see what there is to forgive. I've nothing against the lad except he was last seen trawling about League 2.

If he can fit in with a completely different midfield from 4 years ago and look the part then why not. With the players we have in the central midfield role I think he may struggle to get anything lengthy or concrete from us. The defensive midfield roll is waiting for Ian Murray once we have a consistant left back, albeit one we have the now or a new recruit.

The fact he told us to feck off once before isn't an issue for me. The fact he'll come on the cheap isn't an issue for me. The fact that he simply isn't good enough is the only issue that concerns me.
