As a holding midfield player Rocastle was reasonably competent though when all you had to do was win the ball and then pass it 5 yards to TweedleDumb, TweedleDumber or Boozy then it isn't that difficult to do that much wrong.
If you cant get a game for Port Vale them it's not exactly Claude Makele or Paul Lambert (who was the original and best exponent of this position) we are talking about here and I don't see what he has to offer especially as Ian Murray is far better suited to this role. It's the age old story football suporters are utterly conservative people and want names they are familiar with or players they can identify with the club as one of them and believe that players can suddenly reproduce form of 4 years ago even though the structure of Hibs midfield is utterly different now as it was then.
