Jones and Canning

Jones and Canning were immense and got us a point. We were far too small and lightweight to trouble Rangers much. Murray and Shields also put in a good shift but we need some new blood for next season. No complaints about the effort put in by all the players.

Re: Jones and Canning

Is it just me,or did we actually play a lot more football today. the Absence of nish up front, meant we played the ball on the deck today, rather than the airborne stuff we have been producing recently.Without doubt our best performance in weeks

Re: Jones and Canning

jones won every high ball
murray put in a good shift and was pretty solid
morais looked good going forward and seemed to be enjoying having the ball
canning. good shift
didn't think anyone had a bad game but some were a bit quiet. one decent break and we would have beat them today.

Re: Jones and Canning

Jones and Canning: Both excellent

Murray: Don't like him playing at left-back, but he put in a good shift.

Shiels: Good performance

Andy McNeil: Very good performance, a tendancy to drift off his line too much during open play, but some very good saves today.

Morais: I havn't been all that impressed with this guy during the season, but I thought he was one of our most dangerous players today. I wish he would shoot for goal more often as he has a terrific strike on him. Unlucky not to score.

With so many players out, a 0-0 draw was a decent result for us today. Rangers are very physical, superbly organised, and their whole game plan is based on denying opponents space. With that in mind it was always going to be very difficult for a well under strength Hibs team to create much. We played well as a team, we just lacked the quality to go on and win the game.

Pretty much agree with all of that tho' I did feel that Canning lost the aerial battle with Cousin and I was a wee bit worried that was going to end in disaster. Thankfully it didn't and we thoroughly deserved a point to-day and with a bit of luck could have taken all 3!!!

Re: Jones and Canning

If, as expected Jones leaves in the Summer, I can see Canning and Hogg as a fairly formidable Centre half pairing

dunno if i can agree with that. thought canning had cousin covered, the ball sometimes found its way back to a hun lurking on the edge of the box, but cousin never got the better of him.
