I think he was a STF appointment, that would be 1991 I think.

He only got a break when he gambled on an untried manager, and it worked for him.

His good years kicked off in June '04.

If Tony Mowbray didn't rebuild the football team, then I reckon the Footbal Club wouldn't have been able to take the hit.

Makes ye wonder tho'

8 years of total mismanagement then 2 years of miracle working to turn round a near-£20M debt, as I reckon the signs were already showing in summer '06 that we would be relatively debt-free within the next 3-4 years.

He was brought onto the board by Farmer around about 1994/95. I remember being at a Club 86 meeting and he was introduced to the membership then as a new director.

Guys

I'm guessing a quick look at any old Hibs programme from that era will confirm who was on the board; it's usually printed in there somewhere.

Maybe the guy who gives us the 'on this day' posts could confirm?

Yeh Hutherstall was STF's 'eyes & ears' on the board, and Rod certainly is.

Re: rod petrie ...

It was definitely 1996.

Not so sure though if he was on the board in 1996 when a vote was taken on Miller's job that ended 3-2 in favour of retaining as revealed by Simon Pia in Scotland on Sunday.

For the second part of 1996 and beginning of 1997 we had a split board. Some who wouldn't even talk to each other...

Re 1990-91 there was also a split decision on the board about Lexo's future, 3-2 in favour of keeping the man, one of the outvoted 2 was Jim Gray.

Stand to be corrected but was Dougie on the board before Farmer took over ?
The guy who took over from Daffy Duff to become chairman of Edinburgh Hibernian was Alastair Dow, who had the reputation of being bit of a financial wiz, but even he thought it was mission impossible to sort out the debt, besides I don't think he was involved any way in the fitba side of things. In the end we went bust and the white knight came riding over the (Abbey) hill to our rescue.

Cromb was on the board for a period around 1988 IIRC but then left.. Sir Tom brought him back in 1991..
