Official (?!!) online survey

Anyone get an e-mail from hibs.net (??) linking to this?

What a great idea, wish someone here had thought of it first.....

Hope they agree to take in to account the view in the Bounce survey rather than shamelessly hijacking the idea and completely ignoring results from a rival site (as it seems they may).

Re: Official (?!!) online survey

No option for standing as well - so appears that idea is a non-starter.

Poor show in my opinion.

For a club that prides itself on being pioneers and a number of 'firsts' in the game this is a missed opportunity. By listening to the fans / customers views in a predominantly standing (unofficially) area of the ground to see if there was support to challenge the Taylor Report (only guidance and not law as well as i understand) and become the 'first' club to reintroduce standing it could bring a massive bit of positive PR for the club not to mention greater goodwill from the fans / customers.

A shame to not even ask.

because its not tolerated in either the spl or european competition so would be completely pointless. by the time(if at all) standing is re introduced we will probably be looking for a new north/south stand

Exclamation The "Official" East Stand Consultation Survey.

Online survey - April 2008
At the Annual General Meeting in October 2007, Hibernian Football Club announced that it had begun the process that will deliver a new East Stand at Easter Road Stadium. A significant amount of work has now been done, including discussions with potential contractors and with planners. Whilst these meetings are continuing, the Club recognises the importance of consulting with supporters, in particular (but not exclusively) those who regularly watch Hibernian from the existing East Stand. The East Stand holds a special place in the affections of a large number of our supporters so our aim is to ensure that any new structure reflects that, and remains an important focal point for supporters. In order to do that we wish to hear as wide a selection of viewpoints and ideas as possible.
To maximise the number of opinions received we have created, and now invite you to complete, this simple on-line questionnaire. Each completed form will be treated in the strictest confidence, and will be used only to inform Hibernian Football Club on the views of our supporters on this one issue. The form also provides an opportunity to make specific suggestions on any aspect of the new stand you might wish to promote, as well as seeking your help as a volunteer on one of the follow-up ‘Listening Groups’.
We plan to meet with supporters on Tuesday 22 April 2008 at Listening Group meetings in the Forthview Suite of the Famous Five Stand. There will be two sessions on that date, one at 3.00pm and the other at 7.00pm, Numbers will be limited so please make it clear whether you wish to take part in these meetings. Even if you cannot attend or are not invited to a Listening Group, your views will be taken on board.

We recognise that not everyone has access to the internet, and for that reason a printed version of the form can be obtained from the Ticket Office or Club Store at Easter Road, to be completed and returned ideally before 22 April 2008.

I have done! But the fact it's not even asked makes it clear it's dead in the water though.

Standing is my preferred way to watch football and the preferred way of many others I imagine. Not everyone wants a soulless, sanitised, commercial-driven family atmosphere at the football. I will continue to ask / lobby for it until it returns, especially as the reasons it was outlawed (Taylor Report) are flawed. It can be done safely elsewhere (Germany) so why not here?

Not saying it should definitely be introduced, just saying that the fans should be asked. If the majority say no, i'll accept that football has moved on. But until we are asked, instead of having some flawed report written by some old fogey who's probably never been to a football match imposed on us, I will continue to keep asking why we can't get it back.

The terracing was magic!

Had the pleasure of being at Borussia Dortmund v Karlsruhe a few weeks back and i managed to get onto the Sudtribune(terrace) and have to say it was amazing. To be able to stand at the fitba in a packed terrace (20,000!!) and able to drink a beer made me realise how crap the Scottish fitba experience actually is.

So they hijacked this idea having been made aware of the bounce thread from yesterday did they?? Fair play to Hibs then for reacting so quickly/

OR....maybe it was highlighted by Hibs a week or two back that there would be a questionnaire on the official site on 10th April.

Didn't see that - if i've picked it up wrong i apologise. Thought the Bounce idea / survey came before the official one.

Regardless, i hope the Bounce views are taken in to account.

Re: Official (?!!) online survey

I'd be interested to know why the club decided to use Hibs.net as their way of reaching their online fanbase.

It asks a couple of questions...

Why does the club not have everyones e-mail address already?

and

Why soley use Hibs.net? Did they ask the admins on here and masshibsteria to let their users know or was it a big two fingers to those two sites?

Poor show from Hibs showing such favouritism.

Re: Official (?!!) online survey

I think a single tier may not lend the ground a scale or sense of enclose that building to the same scale and angle as the other 3 stand would.

Standing would be great but would not be acceptable for many events so would lose us the opportunity to host other games (and Europe if we get there).

I'll tell you why.....

It's because HFC didn't ask hibs.net to do anything.

The official site produced their questionnaire and we linked to it as we wanted our membership to make their views known. It's an important issue, so the more responses the better.

We (hibs.net) waited to see what was on offer and then opened up a discussion forum for this issue, which I'm sure many of you have seen already.

If not, it's here [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

So, sorry to burst your consipracy bubble, but the club and hibs.net have had no contact over this at all.

Still, I'm sure that won't stop you from going on about it.......

Er, I'm pretty sure there were leaflets out and about at Saturday's match against St Mirren, so in effect, the survey here was after the club had indicated such a discussion was to be had?

Selective quoting can mislead can't it? I see you neglected to quote the sentence beforehand, which was an apology if I had misinterpreted things, thus allowing you to take the moral high ground....

It was a fair assumption to make, based on the information available at that time, that:
a) Hibs.net was being used as the official distribution channel
b) This came after the Bounce survey

But hey, don't let the facts get in the way of a patronising putdown!

It can indeed. Annoying ain't it? I'll consider myself told off and won't do it again.

Unless I'm not following you, then I don't see how that's a fair assumption to make?

How \ why would you assume .net was an official distribution channel?

Because hibs.net didn't rush out a survey following the leafleting on Saturday?

What 'facts' have you got to make that statement?

Quote:
b) This came after the Bounce survey
As I said earlier, there were leaflets out and about on Saturday. Does that not indicate to you that the club were preparing the support for discussion?

I don't give a flying one about who got what first. The Bounce released something on Sunday (or was it monday?) and we waited to hear what was on offer. Hardly worth the discussion we are having...........

Exactly.

An e-mail from Hibs.net linking to the hibs.co.uk survey gave the impression it was part of the official consultation process.

I never saw the note from the official site re consultation methods in advance of the Bounce survey.

That is all. Apologies for picking this up wrongly as I explained earlier.....

I honestly couldn't care less though!

Could you clarify.

When you refer to .net as WE, are you posting as a member, or as a spokesman for the ruling politburo ?

Surely the whole point of these fans messageboards is that individuals post their personal opinions free from corporate influences. Hence the banning of HI representatives from . net ?
