He had a great game, and well done on the clean sheet, lets hope we see an improvement on all keepers now that the number 1 spot is now in contention

exactly! it would be a brilliant situation where we have two keepers who are fully reliable and interchangeable. I always love to see our keepers doing well.

It's only been a couple of games falkirk and st midden lets all not get too carried away! Dont get me wrong i'm happy for him with his 2 good showing's but still think the dodgy goalie is still in there and will come out soon enough i reckon another yr's time he will be ready. Saying that i think the same about maka they both need a seasoned pro like combe to work beside IMO.

Re: The Andy McNeil Appreciation Thread

Brilliant from McNeil today, some top drawer saves. He seems to be improving under Mixu, showing him why he is worth a starting Jersey. Did Marshall not say that Mixu takes alot of interest in the goalkeeper training ?

Re: The Andy McNeil Appreciation Thread

Only his kicking let him down yesterday but then again Smith in Saints goal gifted big Nish a goal early doors .
I have seen great goalkeeping at ER in my many years of supporting Hibs but havent been on my feet to applaud saves like yesterday when I stood up twice and applauded him for the saving of certain goals - and yes he will make mistakes but after yesterday they will be less and less -so at least until the next game take all the plaudits thats on offer young Andrew well done

He should keep his place. It annoys me how Mixu sometimes chops and changes regardless of form. An example is Gattheusi who came back yesterday and looked better than Canning.

McNeil could be another Goram, who knows!

Re: The Andy McNeil Appreciation Thread

he had at least 4 great saves in the second half so deserves the praise...

but I would point out shot stopping was in the pass one of his strong points...

it's the silly mistakes like lack of concentration or not being away of lurking opposition players that caught him out in the past...

as a young player still learning I think we have to accept they will come (as with Maka ) we just have to hope they don't cost us goals

Re: The Andy McNeil Appreciation Thread

Does anyone know why Ma-Kalambay was on the bench rather than back in goals for the game ?

I agree that McNeil was outstanding at the weekend and those four saves were top class. However, had that performance been the previous week I could have understood why McNeil kept the gloves. Don't get me wrong I don't think he played badly against Motherwell, it just wasn't that spectacular a performance.

Ma-Kalambay of late has been very good and although injured for the 'Well game I would have thought he would have been back into the team when fit again.

Who would have thought earlier in the season that the boss would have a dilemma in which goalkeeper to pick for all the right reasons as opposed to which one was least error prone.
