Still in with a good chance at 3rd place.... but what are your thoughts on this actually happening?

I think it is possible, and am hoping it happens, but to be honest i would be happy with top 6 at this moment

It's possible, of course. I think United are probably favourites for it just now but that can change from week to week. It's going to be a close run-in. Just happy to be in with a shout of it. At least we have something still to play for this late in the season. Nothing worse than going along to games in March/April knowing that it doesn't really matter what the score is going to be.

I think Motherwells bottle might crash. 2 defeats to their closest challengers in their last 2 games may have put a dampener on them. They have tougher fixtures than us coming up as well.

Dundee Utd seem to have hit form at the right time.

There is a long way to go.

I cannie see the old firm dropping too many points to be honest so I think we can take the games against them out the equation. We'll need to win the majority of the rest of them.

I reckon we could be 3rd at the split.

As long as we don't lose at Motherwell they are going to be toiling to pick up many points from their 2 games against Celtic and one against the huns. Even if they pick up three points from those games, which is close to a best case scenario for them imo, they would be on 50 points if they get a point against us and no games in hand left.

Dundee Utd have a game at Tynecastle and home to the huns left. Could see them taking a point, or maybe two from those. So 50 or 51 points.

Us? Point at Fir Park at least, then a win against St Mirren who we must be due a result against would leave us on 51. With a win at Fir Park we would be on 53 and 3rd imo.

Fuck knows what sort of nonsense fixtures we'll end up with after the split, but I would be less than happy if we have to go to Tannadice or Fir Park for a third league game there this season.

If we get at least 8 points after the split and we are in third at the split, we'll end up in Europe imo.

I think we've got the easier of the pre-split games. Away to an under fire Motherwell side and a home game against a bottom 6 team with nothing to play for. And we should have Utd and Motherwell at home after the split so I'd say weve got an excellent chance.

After a bad run we've every chance and, as far as I'm concerned, we have the playing staff and manager to achieve it. I'll be bitterly disapointed if we don't.

That's despite me reckoning that we're probably more likely to lose at Motherwell than win...

The Yams and Huns will defeat Dundee Utd IMO.

Motherwell will lose their two fixtures v Celtic.

I was discussing this with Ginty in the pub tonight and he reckons that we have played 4 out of the 6 teams we could get, away from home twice already.

Therefore in the interests of fairness we should in theory have the following games after the split

Celtic away
Rangers home
Dundee td home
Motherwell home
falkirk/hearts home

If thats correct then we should have a fairly good chance of ending up third.

It wont happen like that though

We've a decent chance, we just have to take each game as it comes, as the old cliche goes..

Saturdays game at Motherwell is going to be very hard but we are capable of winning it.

I would expect Hibs to take care of St Mirren at ER even although they have beaten us twice already this season. We are long overdue a win against them. Third place is going to be close but we are right in there, and that in itself is an achievement given everything that has happened during the season.

That is very wishful thinking dub! looking at the s/t book, we only have three home games left and 1 of those is against st. midden before the split, so that would mean only 2 home games post split mate, so we will defo be going to at least somewhere 3 times
