Now that the sheep have just beaten the plastics we need to achieve third in the league to ensure europe.

Aberdeen have won 1-0 at celtic in the cup replay so there obviously cannot be an old firm final.

This means only third in the league will get us europe?

Does anyone else think this a good thing in some ways? Personally i think it helps Mixu keep the team focussed on every match between now and the end of the season and on current form there is nothing to say we will not amass more points to finish third.

seems to be some confusing over this

i always thought this was the case but supposedly the cup runners up do not get in europe-it goes to 4th place

There is no confusion JV - the application to change the rule was put into fifa after the season had already started and they [fifa] dont allow rule change legislation during the season so sadly the runners up will go into Europe.

The SFA waited too long last year to make the rule change, after the Gretna & Dunfy debacles, so its still status quo for Cup runners-up to get in the Uefa.

Queen Of The South have a feckin' HUGE incentive now for beating Aberdeen in the semi.

Bearing in mind how utterly garbage Aberdeen have been in recent months QoTS must fancy their chances.

Ridiculous though that, yet again, a European place will go to a team under-performing in the SPL or a Div 1 team.

I think win against rangers then 3rd place is defo on because confidece will be sky high and we will be the form team. A win against rangers is EXACTLY the kind of result we need before the split.

While I am rooting for us to get third place, lets not forget that not to come 3rd wouldn't be a disaster.

When JC left, we all believed we would be lucky to achieve a top six finish. When Mixu was appointed manager of Hibs, we all had it in our beliefs that this would be damage limitation mission for Mixu and Donald Park. They have instilled real belief and confidence back in the side, and have performed exceptionally well. So, while we all silently sit and hope for 3rd place, lets not all be devastated if we don't get that much sought after UEFA cup spot.

Agree 100%. Sad thing is, too many people have very short memories, and if we fail to make Europe there will no doubt be too much moaning and too little recognition that to even come close is an impressive achievement for Mixu bearing in mind the chaos John Collins and Tommy Craig left behind.

No doubt Baron. For me, if Hibs play to the best of their ability until the end of the season and dont get third place at least they will have tried their best and you wont hear me moaning about it. It'll be close but I still think we will do it.

Agree with that..

We have a chance of finishing third, but it is no more of a chance than Motherwell and Dundee United have. I hope we just focus on one game at a time. If we even finish fourth it will have been quite an achievement given what has happened in the last year.
