Over the whole season our defensive record compares reasonably well with most teams (5th best in league and very close to Motherwell and Dundee United) which I think is not something picked up often as there seems to be a general perception of the hibs defence as 'dodgy'.

In my opinion the back four that played against Kilmarnock (Hanlon, Hogg, Jones, Canning) looked rock solid and should be our first choice defence for the rest of the season.

Canning and Hanlon don't provide much on an attacking threat but with them and Murray playing in front of the central pair and Maka much improved I think this gives us a very solid base and allows our attacking midfield talents (Shiels, Zemmama, Rankin, Morais etc) greater license to charge forward (which they certainly do!).

Canning is a centre half (as is Zarabi imo). Gathuessi was doing okay before he picked up a knock so I'd have him back in the team instead of Canning, but Canning should be putting pressure on Hogg & Jones for a place in the team if either of them have a drop in form. Hanlon deserves to be starting.

No more midweek games scheduled so the strongest side should be starting from now on.

I quite agree, i think canning could possibly do the job at right back untill the end of the season makes the back 4 look strong but so and not muching going forward....i also agree with playing murray in front of the gives the more creative midfielders the freedom to play.
