Former Dundee United striker Kevin Gallacher claims he wasn't surprised when he watched Rangers manager Walter Smith lose his temper with Hibernian boss Mixu Paatelainen during the Scottish Cup tie between the clubs on Sunday.
Smith was ordered to the stand following a furious exchange with the Finn and Gallacher, now a pundit with Radio Five Live, said: "I think it's great to see Walter still has the fire in his belly.
"I saw that fire when I was a 13-year-old kid. Then I saw it as an apprentice when I bore the brunt of it in the bootroom once. It's great to see he still has that and big Mixu has seen it at closer range than most.
"It might not be good for kids to watch, but it's just pure passion, pure will to win. In my case, I was accused of not doing the kit properly. Unfortunately the consequences of that at United were that you either got caught in the gym or you were caught in the bootroom.
"I was fortunate because I was in the bootroom so he could only jab me one: if you were in the gym you were hit will full-blown punches!
"When Walter is angry he is quite a sight but he was brilliant as a sidekick to Jim McLean at United.
"You couldn't have two fiery characters so Walter often had to calm Jim down. But when Walter got mad you knew all about it. I think a lot of the players feared Walter more than they did Jim."

Actually that's quite worrying... does he still have dealings with the youth setup at Rangers? I'm sure a lot of the parents of the boys there won't be happy if he is!

Read that in one of the free Dundee papers, couldnt believe the bit about you were lucky if he got you in the boot room, if was in the gym was full out punches . Makes me hate him even more!

right Kevin Gallagher is a clever player - in footballers standards and newspapers don't like to miss an big story - which makes this all the more intriguing.

It's like Kevin has released this story without making outright accusation at wattie. Possibly fishing for other former arab youths to come forward? if a red top or a TV station ran with this the fall out could be huge? yet the telegraph hide it at the end of a gretna article?

FTW no red top would ever run it as Rangers have the red top tied up...

This can only be described as child abuse...and if true wattie should get the jail...!
