Makalamby

Another excellent performance on Sunday. Took a lot of pressure off the defence by coming and catching corners/crosses. Made 3 good saves from McCulloch, Katie, and Naismith, and also one excellent save from Naismith's header.

He does have the potential to be a really good goalie, and hopefully make Hibs a few bob when he does move on. My only criticism of him is that he isn't scoring enough goals.

Ino, It's pretty bad he's not even making chances.

But yeah, he has been brilliant recently, one of our best players, interesting turn around in alot of the supporters who wanted him replaced. He was superb on sun, saved two 1 on 1s, made that fantastic save from naismisths header, even managed to get a touch to the goal but poor defending, along with it being a good shot, there was little more he could do!!

Touch wood he has been really good lately long may it continue. I think i speak for all Hibbbys in saying we'd be over the moon if he provided the answer to our long standing problem.

Aye, that'll be right. Deafening silence from the Gatheussi knockers too. Very dangerous making drastic judgements on the basis of a couple of games

I will hold my hand up, and say i was wrong, after all i did start the thread "replace the goalie" , I still have my reservations about him, but if he is in the zone and doing well for us then, i can have no complaints and long may his good run continue.

I`ll admit - I still don`t rate Gatheussi. He`s a liability and an accident waiting to happen. Zarabi looks similar so far. I`d rather see McCann and Hanlon playing at full backs.

Maka is still young but has all the attributes to be a great goalie. Hopefully he won`t be struck with the Hibs goalie curse and plays a blinder at Swinecastle next time.

Re: Makalamby

maka has turned his game around and is now due a lot of credit for his recent performances. he is still gonna flap from time to time but he has shown enough now to be cut a lot of slack.

credit to those who saw this ability earlier - still think gathuessi is pish tho:YAYYY:

Re: Makalamby

I dont think Gatheussi is pish, think hes a decent defender, has quite a bit of pace (during the celtic game pretty sure Mcgeady switched sides early on because Gathuessi kept outrunning him onto the ball, might be wrong though??), decent tackle, seems pretty solid too. What lets him down is his long balls which ill admit hes pretty awful at, on sunday seemed to just hit the ball to anyone, even when he had time to spot the pass. Also made a few bad mistakes, like when we were attacking he managed to header the ball to one of their players which started the attack that im pretty sure ended with Maka saving naismiths 1 on 1!

Re: Makalamby

Makalamby has been fantastic since the Hearts game and long may it continue.

I think Gatheussi has been better in recent weeks, especially agaisnt Celtic I thought defensively he was surprisingly solid. Still, overall I think his positional sense can be bit off, his tackling isn't great and his distribution is trully horrendous. I will admit he has improved though so well done to him. He deserves a lot of credit for not reacting to Novo's tackle, I was worried it would be like with Lee Miller and he'd just shove him over!

Re: Makalamby

Gatheussi's performance in the 2-1 defeat to Rangers at ER was the single worst I have seen from any player, ever, in a Hibs jersey.
Don't rate him at all. He's indisciplined, his passing is awful, he gets caught out of position regularly and he can't cross the ball (which for someone who gets forward so often, is a problem).

Maka at times still makes a few minor mistakes but he makes up for it. The good thing is he doesn't let his errors effect him
He has the ability to be a top keeper for us

It was great to see him take that ball in the air in the last minute there tonight. Took the pressure right off.
