Re: gary smith

another player who dissappeared off the face of the earth is Jonathan Baillie, and I'm sure Smith still plays but can't remember who for.

Edit: just checked Smith is on loan at Dundee from Cowdenbeath

just gave Bailleys name a check in wikipedia and here is what i found out

Baillie made just two appearances in Tony Mowbray's time as manager and wasn't picked again after a 4-4 home draw against Dundee in September 2004. He had a brief 4 game loan spell at Ayr United in January 2006 but soon returned to Edinburgh. He did not play a first-team game for Hibernian in over two and a half years, a period in which he has been the victim of a catalogue of injury problems. These injuries eventually forced him into early retirement from football, at the age of 21, at the end of the 2006-07 season.

Nicol is still listed in FK Haugesund team as a Midfielder but there is no info on appearances or that. Read a few things a while back saying he was pretty happy there enjoying his football and things looked to be going ok. I'd possibly take him back. He could have learned a bit in a totally different league, would be relatively cheap and recent games have proven to me that we no longer have a decent Midfield. There is something lacking about it. Nicol may not be the answer but he would be worth a look IMO.

Saw Nicol on the scoresheet for FK Haugesund in a friendly yesterday. Think I read something about him looking for other options after spending a lot of time on the bench last autumn. Among those matches on the bench was the cup final last November (FK Haugeunds biggest moment as a football club, I guess).
