Re: Not good timing
Strange when you concider the last three Managers and two Chairman have all publicly or privately critisised the Board (RP) and their way of doing business.
However maybe they are all wrong and RP is correct, who knows. |

Re: Not good timing
Now the 'tache has quoted that the Training Complex cost £5m.
Reported for ever as being £4.2m, with a splattering of £4.9m in yesterdays press. Petrie is a gobshite. For sure. Is JC To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. Re: Not good timing
So Collins has gone and all of a sudden after months of injury problems/Ramadan etc. Benji "has declared himself fully fit and is expected to start the game". Just what is going on at the club?

Re: Not good timing
IMO Petrie is just a spin doctor of the lowest order.
If you read his carefully constructed comments you will see that after Collins resigned Petrie was willing to listen to him. This is the managerial equivalent of thinking about closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. As far as I can see the final straw for Collins was that JC had lined up some of the transfer money from Murphy to sign Hammel from Southend. As Southend probably pay higher wages than Hibs, this would require us to break the wages structure or pay a very large signing on fee (payable over the length of the contract). The latter would probably have allowed our embarrasing and ultimately self-perpetuating inability to retain an inform player for more than a season on the current wage rates to stay intact. I would suggest that the board start to invest a decent proprtion of transfer income on decent quality players wages. I am not niaive enough to think about huge transfer fees but targetting the end of/out of contract players who could do a job for the club. Given the financial stability of Hibs, I would think it is not unreasonable to expect 75% of transfer revenue to be guaranteed to the manager over a three year period. ie £4 million in = player budget increased by £1 million a year for the next three years. In conclusion, we have a wage structure which ensures mediocrity is the norm and cup finals/Europe are flashes in the pan. Our team is then dismantled and piecemeal selling to the highest bidder puts us back to mediocrity. IMO the current wage structure is an unbearable burden for any ambitious manager. PQ123 |

Re: Not good timing
It's hard to believe that JC just woke in a bad mood and during a board meeting out of the blue said F this I'm off and I don't care what anybody says.
I think the board are unaware of what it takes to move the club forward on the playing side of things and JC's frustrations just boiled over. I'm guessing that we are selling a player or players come January and that JC was going to see a very small percentage of the money. Having to go to the board again cap in hand to beg for enough dough to take Hibs up a level, would have proved too much for a man like Collins. The other possible explanation is that he has been tapped by Fulham and offered a budget to get them out of trouble. Either way something is very wrong at ER and as someone has already said it is the fans again who will have to pay the price. A new manager will require funds no doubt to lift the playing side of the club.

Re: Not good timing
when a team doesn't have a manager its always the way that they have a couple of wins for some strange reason, lets hope that is true against the tic.
John Collins didn't believe in himself enough, IMO, and just walking away from us is bad bad karma; he probably knew fine that Petrie would placate him, so he didn't give RP a chance. He might have started his career at hibs and his managerial career with hibs but I'm not too sure that he really cares about us. Hopefully at least Deano might get a game? Come on Tommy - let Shiels come on in the second half. |

Re: Not good timing
Not good timing...selling your left back half way through the season and not funding an adequate replacement?

Hi Guys I would like to say that Hibs are getting almost as bad as dare I say it the wee team along the road in the way we run our club I mean you cant tell me that there is no money to spend and its a wee bit dodgy that Fulham sacked thier Manager today nudge nudge wink wink SAY NO MORE!!!!!!!!!! If our club is in that good a position why cant we keep our best players and have a manger who wants to stay look how long we had Alex miller !!!!! I'm just guessing as to why Smurf thinks there is every reason to sell him now i.e. is it because his heart is now set elsewhere?
