Gordon Smith will win it hands down so I went for ET, would be happy with either.

What the hell, I'm sticking to my policy of only voting for players I've seen, so even though he probably wasn't a patch on Smith it's Mickey Weir just edging out Crunchy Mcallister for me. Both great little wingers but Weir was strongly associated with Hibs throughout the years while Crunchy is probably a Bairn at heart.

when this is done and dusted a greatest team of each decade would be good (50's, 60's, 70's, 90's, 00's)

His first touch in a Hibs jersey was quality and thereafter Colin Nish...

How many voters actually saw Gordon Smith play???

I went for Mickey Weir. A great player who never got the recognition ouside of ER that he deserved.

It's no a "hall of best players you saw" though...

Personally for things like this I pretty much discount anyone I seen playing for us in the last 5 years as I think it colours the memory too much.

There're people voting for Ivan Sproule who was rarely a first choice starter when we had a fully fit squad ffs! He'll be fondly remembered no doubt about it, but "hall of fame"? Gies peace!

Re: Hibernian Hall Of Fame - Right Midfield/Right Wing - Vote Now!

Did this not start off as a debate about the best players we had physically seen??

If it's just about an all-time Dream Team, it will end up almost exactly the same as the results of the vote in the EEN a couple of years ago.

Oh, and how can you vote for someone that you read or heard was good??? Doesn't make sense to me.

I don't think it did no. I think it started off as a greatest ever Hibs team.

And it's because if you don't then you end up with the ludicrous situation of someone like Ivan Sproule being in a Hibs hall of fame, and Gordon Smith not there!

If you limit it to best players you've seen then there is always going to be a huge bias towards more recent players particularly when the internet is more heavily used by folk who are younger. I don't think there would be many Hibbies round about my age who would think that Sproule was better than Mickey Weir for example, but there will be some, and young folk voting would presumably all go for Sproule so you'd end up with the result that Sproule was considered better by the majority.

If you move that back, then those a bit older than me would say pretty much without exception that the Turnbulls Tornadoes side was better than any side they've seen since. But you end up with Steven Whittaker in front of John Brownlie.

A generation back from that and you have folk in disbelief if you say that Alan Gordon was a better striker than Lawrie Reilly.

My choices are based on what they done for the club. Not when I happened to be born.
