Fletcher wants a deal that FITS within our wage structure, yet Hibs won't meet it???

What the hell are our board playing at????

It's getting embarrassing, watching every player coming out wanting to leave.

If it's true that our top earner gets £1,700-£2,500 a week and Fletch wants only that, what in the blue hell is he earning now.

Re: The Fletcher situation

We should immediately get a contract of £2.5k + bonuses and whatever the fck else to get Fletch signed on until 2012 ona nice big 5 year deal.
If we done this then we could knock-back offers for 2-3 years by which time Fletch will be a Scotland full cap and also worth a hell of alot more.
The board know this, everyone knows this so get the finger out and get Fletch signed up along with pulling out the stops for Boozy and signing a solid experienced Keeper to challenge Ma-Kalambay.

Re: The Fletcher situation

I agree that Steven Fletcher should be at the top end of our wage structure.

He is possibly our best player and deserves to be recognised as such.

I would hope then that the quotes attributed to his agent, about his wage demands being within that structure, are true. We'll then be able to offer him what he wants and we can all go back to watching Fletch kick on for the next couple of seasons

Re: The Fletcher situation

dont know about you but it seems to me that the board are determined to try and force our best players to put in transfer requests so they can cash in on our best talent wihout looking bad by offering crap wages, its getting beyond a joke,if the cash is there then use it

Fletcher happily signed a 5 year deal in 2006!!! Lets not put all the blame at Petries door

Back then he was still to have the burden of main striker placed on his shoulders now sadly with the scenario of Benji he has to carry the goal burden pretty much on his own most games. If Hibs value him as their most valuable player then he should be paid the highest amount of money the wage structure will allow. This smacks of the Riordan scenario again whereby HIbs sign a young player on a very long contract but once established as a first team player he does not get an improved deal. Sure the likes of McCann and Stevenson have had improved deals recently but they are still to complete their first full season whereas Fletcher is into his fourth season now although he did sign an improved deal last season but still not in line with what he should be on. If it were me i would be looking for a better pay deal too than currently on at least for another season before looking to move on.
