Fletcher

My mate just texted me to say Steven Fletcher has turned down a new deal? Anyone know if this is in fact true?

Re: Fletcher

Is your mate a Yam? Fletch is in talks over a new deal but his agent has said in papers this morning that no further were scheduled til next week with Fletch having been away with Scotland over past week. On the subject though, I very much doubt he'll sign a new as it is with Mouser in charge of wages - he might just get a rise of a £100 or so.

If you say he texted you, then I'm prepared to believe he texted you.

Re: Fletcher

Don't want to get involved in the rumour factory but I would be very (pleasantly) surprised if Fletcher signed another Hibs deal. That said, we all know contracts are not worth the paper they are written on anyway. Simply a way of the club securing a better transfer fee when he eventually goes - not that I want to think about that just yet.

The Dandy Highwayman will become famous soon enough
Re: Fletcher

This is a completely different situation to Boozy who we have no danger of getting to sign a new deal.

Fletcher must still have a good few years left on his contract so the only way he will go is if we accept a decent bid. Why not take a wage increase in the meantime, extend for another few years and still get the move if that decent bid is forthcoming.

Boozy however is out of contract at the end of the season?? and can walk away for nowt then which means he is likely to get more offers and a healthier signing on fee. He aint going to accept 2.5k from hibs when championship clubs can offer a minimum of 5k and who is to say he cant get a better club than that

This article suggests fletcher has not long extended his deal - [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

Good point - no comparison between Boozy's and Fletcher's situations.
IMHO Fletch would be crazy to try and get a move away so soon - another season (at least) and he will be worth much more. A full Scottish cap and his value will increase, then he can pick and choose.

Something like that I believe... which makes this a big fuss about nothing. He is unlikely to see out his current contract so I don't know why some people are so worried about this.

Re: Fletcher

Fletcher would def be a big loss but with his contract status at the moment and the recent values we have been getting for players I dont see us letting him go on the cheap. At the end of the day we bring through players and they move on to 'bigger and better things'

but this is something we have become used to.
Boozy on the other hand would be a different story. If he goes in Jan who realistically can we get in who will do the same job for us in running the midfield and breeding confidence around him??? I doubt anyone just quite as influential.

Fletch,Boozy and Murph are players obviously going to be linked with moves away as they are class players but as we have done when Miller,O'Connor,Riordan,Murray,Caldwell,Brown,Thomson,Whittaker all moved on we shall bring through many others.

McCann,Stevenson,Zemmama,Benji,Hogg,Chisholm and many others will soon be attracting other clubs but its something thats inevitably going to happen and just shows we are producing great talent regularly and can continue to do so after these players move on. From what im aware of there are many other 16-19 years olds just waiting to burst right through in the coming years. Damon Gray,Kenny Waugh,Callum Martin,Sean Lynch,Grof,Olliver Russell are all possible future stars of the Edinburgh team so the future looks bright........

FFS guys, he's contracted to Hibernian till 2011 and already you lot are resigned to losing him in January, if we get a decent offer!! Bollocks to that, he shouldnae be going anywhere till Hibs/Collins say so, new contract or not, so stop being so flipping pessimestic and get a grip!!!!!

It's all very curious

as to why Hibs are trying to negotiate a new contract for a player who is already contracted until early 2011 which is 3 years away.

which he probably is and is threatening to 'Phone a Friend Called Wullie'

but what do Hibs get out of it as Hibs will want to sell him roughly around 2009/10 to get the maximum value which is around the time he will be wanting to leave anyway.

It might be something to do with the 'Webster Case' and multiples of salary determining the buy out clause in the last 2 years of the contract

but other than that Hibs hold all the cards so why get all Leeds United
