Boozy off

Getting a really bad feeling about Boozy recently about the contract that he has not signed.

Its looking increasingly possible that he will be away at the end of the season with us getting brussel sprout

Re: Boozy off

I think he'll be on his way, personally I'd rather see him play for us until the end of the Season than let him go for a small fee in January.

we know the amount of money that's come in and how much has been re-invested in the playing staff, you can guarantee that any proceeds from a January transfer wouldn't be used to buy another player, we are unlikely to strike gold on an unknown like Boozy twice in a row!

Keep him 'til the Summer and enjoy his talent while it lasts, can anyone really blame him if he moves on for a big pay deal?

Why have we left contract negotiations so late on?

With all the cash generated in the spring you would have thought it would be a priority..

No and nor should anyone either, we have had a lot of pleasure watching Boozy and he isnt agitating for a move merely excercising his right to look at the options. This might well be his last chance of a big pay deal so if someone came in and offered him [say] a 3 or 4 year deal on £8k [

Hibs have offered him a £200 pw wage increase and have been told to gtf by Boozy apparently. Which I don't blame him for even remotely tbh. I'm no even convinced that would cover inflation since he joined us...

Spot on. It has been a pleasure to watch him. I really hope Hibs can put a decent offer to him, great to see him stick around. He owes us nothing though and if others are prepared to pay much higher wages who could blame him for moving on. He has been a model pro at Hibs and has never agitated for a move nad has been happy to see out his contract.

If this is true it is shocking. He is the player who makes us tick. He has to be paid what he is worth and IMO an extra £200 does not reflect his value to us or anyone else.

I'm sure thats accurate, but I'm also sure Hibs will be offering quite a tasty signing fee too.The club wont break their wage structure, they boost the players income with singing fees/bonus structure.

Boozy has been great, and I'm sure he'll continue to be so for the remainder of his time at Easter Road.

I personally think Hibs have not quite figured out that Boozy was signed as someone who was trying to get his career back on track after playing in the French lower leagues for a year or two, but is now an established mainstay of the side.

And as sure as I am of anything, the source for this is the reason why I'm not treating this as a rumour but as fact. Something I'm not that prone to doing tbh.

Do you honestly think Boozy is anywhere near the top of the wage structure at Hibs dude? I would have a wild guess that he'll be on a lot less money than Alan O'Brien (who up till has done the square root of feck all for us) for starters...

If the wage structure has not increased by more than £200 per player per week in four years years despite turnover at the club pretty much doubling the board need fecking castrated imo.

It doesn't sound a great deal really. (Although I'd be ecstatic if I got a ten and a half grand a year rise, but I'm not a footballer.)

Presumably as well as the £200 there is a signing on fee, or 'loyalty bonus' which other players have had in the past? I wonder how much that is? Some on this site called for increased signing fees to 'get around' the wages cap.
If we Bouncers are canny enough to realise the importance of Boozy one would think that JC and Rodders do too? Certainly enough not to make a derisory offer?

I often wonder how 'confidential discussions' between players/players agent and Rodders find their way out into the open. Actually no I don't.

For the avoidance of doubt, anything stated in the above post is written without prejudice; is probably completely uninformed opinion, and possibly just a figment of my imagination. I'd guess the extra £200 a week would perhaps see him still fall behind Kerr's basic..

Probably not (re: O'Brien) but mind we actually paid money for him making him a more valuable signing instantly.Boozy came as a trialist, signed his contract and has outperfomed it.I'd like to know what else they are offering him because I refuse to believe it's only an extra £1000 a month.

As for wage structure, I agree with your sentiment, but I'd get the razor blades sharpened as I really do doubt rod has increased it much more than that

The minute Stephen Glass left Hibs they had the opportunity to drop the maximum basic wage structure by £500 ... and they did.....

They compensated this by increasing the win bonus system...

In 2003 when we signed Glass i'd imagine he'd be at the top end of the wage scale but i refuse to believe that when we gave him a new contract in 2006 (?) he was still at the top end...

That said Mowbray gave better and extended terms to Zibi around this time...

TweedleDum and Broon played exactly the same 'tear jerking' hard done by card at the time of their transfer disputes only for it to emerge later that they were on something like 10% of any future transfer fee which in Broon's case was a staggering £450,000

Boozy at 27/28 won't be worth that much in the transfer market at 31 though at 29/30 if he was 2 years into a 3 contract then he could be on a nice little deal.

I'd imagine Hibs will be offering him everything in the way of signing on fees and loyalty bonuses but if an English Championship want him then if he is motivated by money and what footballer isn't then it really won't be close to being enough.
