marketing in Morocco

Just back from holiday in Morocco. Folk I talked to all knew our two Moroccan stars but had not heard of Hibs - a bit os shame as the the two were seen as big stars in the country. Perhaps we could play a couple of friendlies there to market the club/players and make some money via replica tops?

Re: marketing in Morocco

Sounds almost like a plan.

When Latapy was here, Hibs went to Trinidad.. Morocco should be much easier to get to and would be a decent place to visit in just about any season as the weather should be good all year round.

Do Zemmama and Benji have any affiliations in common? as it would make sense to play against a club that one or both of them had been with in the past.

One word of warning for people thinking about going.. I went to Tunisia a couple of years ago and had to get a fair few injections before going.

As i said before, hibs is not a known club among the moroccans. maybe those who are interested about zemmama and benji would know about it.

Re: marketing in Morocco

Was based in Agadir and went north, south, east and west from there. We sawan Agadir v Rabat match which was interesting. The Agadir no.8 was a big midfielder who apparently used to play with Zemama at Raja. Apart from this player few really stood out. The crowd was a bit small considering the size of Agadir. Not to worry.
I think that Hibs could market the club and players in Morocco. Maybe the club does not realise that the two players are seen as major players in the country. Both Moroccan clubs and Hibs could advertise the game, and make some money too - something our Berbir friends were very good at in Agadir.

Some doctors here will advise getting shots etc. for hepetitis A, typhoid, tetanus and polio. I wouldn't bother (actually I think I'm jabbed up for a few years anyway and a tetanus shot is never a bad idea) if I was just going for a couple of weeks but some people are extra cautious.

Didn't Zemmama's old team (Casablanca?) ask for Hibs to play a friendly against them as part of the deal that was agreed to bring him here? Or am I wrong?

I thought this too. But then they tried to claim that we hadn't even signed him!!!!!!!!!

I also thought we'd played in South Morocco. And the USA...

For what it is worth I had Hep A before I went. It more a cash injection for Hibs and Moroccan football that I was considering.

I'm sure it was Hepatitis, Tetanus, Typhoid... and I had to drink a tiny phial of Polio Vaccine too (Boggin

And I had to go back a year later for a tetanus booster. I certainly wasn't told that it was optional, but it was a couple of years ago, so maybe there was a health scare on at the time?
