Re: ON THIS DAY - '74 - Juve at ER!
That was my second ever game - 7 years old - on the East Terracing - first time I ever heard my Dad say Fuck Off and that was to the polis - strange memory!!
Was put down the front of the top tier so I could see - also remember the fans all swiging from cans and bottles - huge crowd I recall. All I could think about was seeing Dino Zoff and noticed that he came out for just about every cross and punched the ball away to about the halfway line - we got beaten 4-2 but I was truly hooked. My first game was the previous round against Rosenborg - the 9-1 game. Amazing now that Rosenborg & Juventus used to be drawn together all the time in the modern CL, always brought back the memories of my first two games at ER. Jesus, I love Hibs more than just about anything else in the world - is that sad??

Yeah i remember that game. It was a birthday present from my dad who is also a big Juve fan.
I remember being on the second tier of the terracing right at very front , so i could stand against the railing without falling over. At the time i was just thrilled at going to a game with two top european side and one of them was the Hibs. I still have the programme safely tuck away in box. PS Does anybody anywhere have a video / clip of these cup games? Or do i have to contact the relevant broadcasters to trawl their videos vaults. |

Re: ON THIS DAY - '74 - Juve at ER!
I remember my dad taking me and my brother to this game, I was 9 years old at the time !
The crowd was 32,000, and I can always remember the Italians in the cowshed dancing about when Juventus scored three of their goals shooting down the slope in the second half. They had most of the Italian national team playing for them that night, and Hibs gave them a run for their money. Stanton and Cropley had Hibs 2-1 up at half-time, but they were too good in the second half. I can always mind the Hibs fans going mental when the Hibs goals went in. We lost the second leg 4-0.
