Morais Sending Off

Just watched it on setanta and it confirmed my thoughts at the time- a fcucking ridiculous decision by that prick richmond again and its cost us the game. But what is marshall teaching Makalambay about positioning at free kicks. We could all see it behind the goals - Mak was covering half the wall -CRAZY

Anybody got highlights of the incident? The guys on the radio said it was harsh. No doubt the referee knew we were able to go top of the league, and then remembered the deal he had made with Walter Smith

Re: Morais Sending Off

i'm getting pissed off at the amount of decisions like that which go against us, i know collins wants our attackers to defend from the front, but if referees are going to punish us for every 'forwards tackle' that is put in, might need to change tactics.

Haven't seen it on TV yet but thought it did't merit red from where I was sitting. But then again that clown of a ref was just itching to screw us up. From the second minute when he game them a corner, which it wasn't, you just knew qwe would get nothing from him. In my opinion he is one of the most inept refs we have - and we have a lot.
As for Marshall - why are we paying him a wage. I could do a better coaching job than him. I do not believe you can help a keeper make a save. What you can do is give him your experience on where to stand, when to come for a ball etc. I do not see any sign of this on the pitch so I reckon it is about time we got id of Marshall and found someone who might help. I do not think it is bad luck on our half to have had so many keepers making elementary mistakes which seem to have started when we took marshall on - or I am geting paranoid?

Re: Morais Sending Off

Agree, never a straight red from where i was sitting, ref was only stood a few yards from incident so had good view, very harsh IMO, felt ref spoiled the game with the sending off and constant whisling

Makalamby made some great instinctive saves in the 2nd half, but positioning for free kick and some of his kicking was suspect! Having said that think hes the best keeper weve had in a while.
Was dissapointing to lose but still enjoyed the game (apart from the ref) and there were loads of positives to be taken out the game.
KEEP IT UP HIBS!!

Just saw it on Setanta and it was a two footed lunge. No need to do it at all. Only person to blame is Morais.

Agreed, it's a straight red imo, no need for it and it was dangerous.

Although i think their boy dived fro the free kick which got them the second.

watch the highlights of St Mirren v Gretna for a carbon copy .
I noticed the Dundee Utd keeper was booked for handling a back pass , obviously more of a crime than bringing down a player

Hibs have done okay from penalties this season. We've probably had more than any other team in the SPL. Dont think referees are biased against us either. They're just crap.

Re: Morais Sending Off

By my reckoning in Richmonds last 8 games reffing Hibs we've had 24 yellows and 2 reds.

He's averaging 4 cards a game generally, so he seems a bit on the harsh side with Hibs although the red card was a daft challenge inviting the ref to send him off.

Richmond is still rubbish, mind.

Thought Fletcher played the situation very well, played the ball away from the goalie then continued into the inevitable collision with Smith - stonewaller and showed great maturity from Fletch in that he knew how to win the penalty without actually simulating anything.

Andy Wanker will love it that strikers from provincial clubs are able to do that sort of thing

Re: Morais Sending Off

Didn't think it was a sending off at the game and having seen it on TV, I still say that. Oh, and the Motherwell keeper not even booked for the penalty. That's not just being a bad referee, it is just being biased.

Hibs aren't going to appeal it.

Quote:
Meanwhile, Collins revealed Hibs won't be appealing the red card shown to midfield star Filipe Morais as the Easter Road side's unbeaten SPL run came to an end with a 2-1 defeat at Motherwell.

While viewing Morais' 21st minute dismissal at a point when the match was goal-less as "pivotal", Collins sees no value in appealing.

Lodging an appeal would be pointless anyway....we never get them overturned....

As it stands he'll miss the St Mirren game, and be back for the derby. It might have made sense to appeal if the games had been the other way round
