Where is the train station in Motherwell and how long a walk is it from the ground?

"Airbles station is the closest to the ground, but is only served by a local service. You are more likely to end up instead at Motherwell Central station, which is around a 15 minute walk away from the ground. Alan McAulay adds; 'You exit the train station facing the main shopping street in the direction of the ground; go straight along it through the shopping precinct/centre; past the shopping centre car park, which leads to an underpass; go under the underpass, up the stairs and turn left; go straight on and the large stand gradually comes into view from behind Wilsons Furniture Store. The road 'forks' at this point with away fans, and those going into the old seated terrace going to the left and all other fans to the right. Away fans walking from Motherwell should note, that the road to the away end is a long and winding one (you think you're there when you see the stand, but it takes about another 5 minutes to access it), so should allow plenty of time. There is also a pretty good pub right next to Motherwell Central, but fans should remember to leave on time, the last time I was in Motherwell I missed the first ten minutes!' "

I noticed last week it was a bus replacement, don't know why the train to Motherwell was not running. I would check with Scotrail before sat.

Is it just the train to motherwell mate what about getting back, hope they realise that there could be alot of angry Hibs fans if there are not enough buses for a very large (which i expect) travelling support who are travelling by train who dont realise the train service aint running.

yeah last few times I've been in Waverley there's been a queue for people catching buses to motherwell. Wasn't that the case last year though when we beat them 6-1? I definetely had to get a bus from Edinburgh to the game, can't remember about coming back though, might have been a train?

As usual i go to an away game by train and the trains are cancelled now i will be gettin up at 9.30 to get up there for 10.30 to make sure i get a bus to Motherwell.

just had a look over on .net and apparalently there is a direct train that leaves at 12:00, and returns at 17:40. otherwise there are trains but none go direct and could take up to 2 hours

For anyone who was planning on getting the train a mate just phoned up and found out some information....

The women he was talking to said that there where no trains travelling to or back from Edinburgh/Motherwell......

Instead there will be a coach running every hour and it is never really that busy according to the women.
