SAD Long Hard Season Ahead

I am 100% behind JC I think he will be a top manager in time but his team selection and substitutions baffled me today. Were Zemmama and Benji left on the bench because of Ramadan? Zemmama has been great in recent weeks. OK Fletch was rested - Curier looked ok but had to be hooked in case he got another booking. Dean Shiels must be pig sick at his lack of games - he'll go to Aberdeen and come back to haunt us - terrific ability. Why was Boozy subbed? and as for O'Brien and Kerr - the only excuse for JC I can think of is that Tommy Craig pushed to get them in. We are in for a long hard season if this type of performance continues. The Board must relaese some money for some quality in the next window.

Re: Long Hard Season Ahead

i agree with most of your points, i assumed that Zemmama, benji and fletcher were all on the bench because they were on international duty last week

the hibs 1st team is going through a huge transitional period at the moment with so many faces coming and going so i expect us to be baffled at some decisions made.

it will be a long season, hopefully a good one though

I do hope I am wrong, but I fear we are going backwards at a fast rate of knots, but on the other hand we have still to lose.

If Collins can carry on with a team that is hard to beat and recover some of the flair we would be happy. Let's see what happens next Sunday against the tic.

Re: Long Hard Season Ahead

Just hope JC had good reason not to start the 3 players mentioned (Fletch and Zemmama have been our players of the season so far IMO), and it wasn't "squad rotation"!

Said it before, we're not feckin Chelsea, we should be playing our strongest team week in, week out, if they're available. It seems no-one can predict what team JC is going to start with these days.

Dean Sheils. What has the geezer got to do? Comes on against aberdeen, puts one in the back of the net and earns us a point. Surely yesterday Deano should have played infront of Morais ?

The next two games will tell us much about "the new Hibs" a home game against free scoring Celtic and then a cup game against a much improving Motherwell. At home we should rightly expect to take something off Celtic and beat Motherwell. Neither will be easy and will be a real test for us. If we come away with good results from both games I will be well pleased.

I'm dreading both.

Re: Long Hard Season Ahead

The yams were a shambles on the first day of the season Mark, and I am not convinced anyone else we have played have been upto much. This will be our first big test. If I had a choice I would rather win the cup game and hold onto the dream of retaining the cup. McGhee seems to have 'Well up for this season and apparently playing a bit of football.

Maybe so Ian, but I think we look poor. None of the new signings look a patch on who we lost over the summer other than the goalie, but then I would be an improvement on Zibi. We are stumbling through games and only improve when Fletcher is on. Goals look hard to come by, the goalie looks average at best and there is little flow to our play. Recently I have watched Queens Park, Aberdeen, ICT and Falkirk play a far more open, attractive, passing game than Hibs.

I also watch Motherwell live in Setanta and agree they look a decent team.

If this team plays the way it has been of late, that combined with that formation Collins is persisting with will make sure we winnae have a snowballs against smeltic. No even too keen on taking on 'Well in their current form because in most of the other games we have played so far we have rode our luck bigtime and it has tae run oot sooner or later.

I have seen little or nothing so far this season that would convince me tae argue strongly against the title of this thread.

I actually like what little I've seen of Morais so far but I would certainly have Shiels in front of O'Brien on current form.
