If Jones Goes What Are We Left With

Who is going to play at the back. Hogg is far too inconsistant. The way he was brushed aside by one of the Gretna players leading up to their goal shows his weakness. The young German from Monaco is completely untested. Lets not kid ourselves on some of the millions from recent transfers will be given to JC to bring someone in. That simply will not happen. After god knows how many weeks JC still hasn't found the ''big forward'' what are the chances off him now finding a big centre half.

Hibs will not sell Jones unless they can bring in an equally dominating centre half from somewhere.

Even with the big man there I think Hibs are lightweight in central defence and lack good enough cover there. I'm not a big fan of Chris Hogg TBH. He can play the odd good game, but for me is too small to be a central defender and too inconsistent. Joneleit does not look too convincing in the air, but quite composed with the ball at his feet. Then it's Ghattussie who can fill in, or a young laddie McCormick. The only reason Collins sanctioned Whittakers transfer was because he knew had othre players who could take his position in McCann and Ghattusie. He doesn't have that luxury with Jones, so IMO he will not sell him during this window.

Does Collins have a choice. If Jones wants to go and Petrie wants the money then i think he will be punted regardless of cover. I feel that JC was just lucky to have ready replacements for Whittaker. If Mcann wasnt ready and Gattussie wasnt competent i still think Whittaker would have been flogged.
They let Killen leave without having a ready replacement hence the on going search for a big striker.

Collins did not want Killen to leave.

The board offered him a decent contract for a player who had scored 14 goals, but had chronic injury problems. A one year deal was not enough for Killen so he pissed them around for few months and deliberately ran down his contract. We are now toiling to replace him, but this should have been taken care of months ago and quite frankly for a club of Hibs size and current wealth to be still pissing around with trialists for this position is a bloody disgrace. If Hibs fail to sign the big striker they need by the end of the transfer window, then questions will rightly be asked about our scouting methods and wage structure which is clearly not competitive enough to attract a proper replacement for last years top goalscorer.
