Just don’t see it

What is up with people jumping on the Chris Hogg band wagon????

The lad has improved under JC, but he's merely transformed from squad player to an average player.

Evidence that he's the same player who's prone to fecking up at the drop of a hat was highlighted at Gretna's 2nd goal. Where "Mr next Hibs captain" was left on his arse as the ball crossed the line.

Plus who was the huddie who gave away the penalty against the Pars in the Scottish Cup????

Just ask yourself this when was the last time you were in the boozer discussing good CB’s and Hogg's name came up in conversation?????

Hogg is nothing special, mediocre at best.

Is it necessary to be one of the best players to be captain? Jones never has been and he makes mistakes too. I suggested Hogg as captain for reasons other than being one of our best players but I think huddie is a bit harsh in any case. We could be looking for a long time if we want a captain who doesn't make mistakes.

The Dunfermline penalty was almost inexcusable as this was the only way they could possibly have scored but to be fair Hogg played play well against Hearts and well against Dundee Utd but actually gave away both goals against Gretna giving away the daft free kick in the first half and then being out muscled in the second half.

And that actually sums up his Hibs career to date, a few good games, the odd outstanding games (eg 'Scotland's Shame' in the 0-3 cup tie) but in between there is multitude of average performances which is only to be expected from someone who isn't very big, isn't very quick and isn't very strong though he always reads the game quite well.

Hogg isn't the real problem though it is the attiude of mind that dictates that a stinking rich club like Hibs with money dripping out of their earshas to field an 'OK ish' centre back when they should be building the spine of a team from the back particularly as a central defender it is a position that is much easier to fill than say a 20 goal a season striker.

Re: Just don’t see it

Every player goes through flavour of month. Hoggy is nowhere near the hero status of Shiels at this moment and he isn't even kicking a ball apart from in the reserves!
Benji is currently not the flavour of the month (was 5months ago and pre-season), Gatheussi also isn't hitting the positives with the terracing. Kerr and Fletcher are on the divide (Fletch on the up after his workman performances and Kerr on the down after his derby goal).

Football fans are fickle. Very in Hibs case.

Sorry but that is utter shite. They done the same challenge on a hibs players moments earlier and got away with it and Hogg was unlucky that he never! You cant judge somebody on being a captain because they lose a pen..

Re: Just don’t see it

Hogg is maybe the most strengthless centre back I have ever seen at Easter Road.

Pospisils goal at Tynecastle
McMenamins goal the other week.

He needs to start going to the gym he is a wimp and I'd rather he left than Jones.

He is too small to be a quality centre back and his positioning can be dodgy to say the least.

No good if he just gets pushed out the way by a striker(not even a particularly strong 1).

We've lost that kind of goal many times with all of our recent defenders , our midfield get pushed about too much too don't you think ?
How often do we beat a big physical team ?

Hearts on the 1st day?

Although I agree we need either a centre back or centre mid who is just there to push and hastle people.

But Hearts were utter garbage that day , think of teams like Falkirk or Inverness .
We can do the great football stuff against other footballing teams but regularly fail against the cloggers

Maybe, in your opinion, but he's not squealed like a bitch to the papers. When dropped, he knuckled down and fought his way back into the team. He could teach some of the more senior players A LOT.

For a small centre back he looked awfy big standing beside him last night he must be kicking on 6'2/6'3 if Jones is 6'7......Jones was standing there too and another Hibby mate of mine noticed it to....he seems stalky but is a big guy!!!
