As it stand part 2

Im using the old system but you can make your own judgement, with a couple of more signings and nobody leaving (fingers crossed) i think we have a decent team.

Kalamby/McNeil

Murphy/Stevenson
Hogg/Martis
Jones/Leith
Whittacker/McCann

Kerr/Chisolm
Zemmama/Boozy
Sheils/Lynch

O'Brien/Fletcher
Benji/Campbell

Donaldson/Gray

Time to look forward to a new era........Again.

Re: As it stand part 2

For me personally i would go along the lines of playing three at the back with boozy doing the sauzee role as he did very effectively versus the huns:

kalamby

joneleit
boozy
hogg

mccann
whitty
kerr
shiels
o'brien

benji
donaldson

bring on the yams

Leaving out Murphy, Stevenson, Jones, Fletcher and Zemmama may not be JC's Plan A for this season.... I'd go for:

Kalamby
Whittaker/Jones/Joneleit/Murphy
Boozy/Kerr/Stevenson
Zemmama/Fletcher/Deano

if at home. Bring in McCann/Chisholm for Zemmama/Deano, if away to OF/Jambos.

O'Brien, Donaldson, Benji gives us an alternative forward line. Good defensive cover with Hogg and the young lad. Not a bad squad coming together. Could do with another experienced central midfielder though (Boozy is injury-prone and inconsistent).

But apart from that its hey ho let's go! And reasons to be cheerful (part 3).

Squad is taking shape. Feel we still need someone that has quality and a presence Brown gave us. Obviously he won't be anywhere near Scott's standards but you never know.

Hibs best central defender for last season left out for someone with no first team experience.

Re: As it stand part 2

I've got a feeling that we might be going with 3 at the back next season. If so I'd go for:

---------------------Makalamby----------------------

-------Hogg-----------Jones---------Joneleit---------

---------------Kerr-----------Stevenson-------------

---Sheils----------------------------------O'Brien---

---------------------Zemmama----------------------

-----------Donaldson----------Fletcher--------------

subs: McNeil, Benji, McCann, Chisolm, McCormack, Boozy, Gray

Alternatively if we were to play 442:

-------------------Makalmby-----------------------

McCann-------Hogg----------Jones------Stevenson

Shiels-------Kerr------------Boozy-------O'Brien

----------Zemmama--------------------------

---------------------Donaldson---------------

subs: McNeil, Benji, Joneleit, Chisolm, McCormack, Fletcher, Gray

I've left out Murphy, Whittaker and Martis as I think these 3 will go however I'd expect replacements brought in (maybe not for Martis) and these guys would slot in at the back in the 442 formation and I'd use Stevenson and McCann in midfield.

Not much left in the squad though that aren't included, Lynch & Campbell the only ones with first team experience that spring to mind. Including the 3 I think will be away that gives us a first team squad of 23 however a lot are youngsters. So I'd be hopeful of at least 2 more signings if we don't lose anyone to bring us to a squad of 25.

wee 162 is just really nicewee 162 is just really nice
Re: As it stand part 2

McNeil (who exactly has ever seen the other keeper?)
Whittaker Jones Hogg Murphy
Zemamma Stevenson Kerr Boozy O'Brien
Benji

If Whittaker goes then McCann will slot in at right back. If Murphy goes then I could see Stevenson playing at left back, and either Zemamma moving inside to play just behind Benji with Whittaker pushed up onto the right hand side of midfield, or McCann playing in either of those positions.

It completely changes if it is a different system obviously.

I think alot of you have missed my point, i wasn't selecting a team for any up coming matches. What i was mearly doing was trying to show that apart from our last 3rd we have adequate cover IMO.

Re: As it stand part 2

Two more signings to come IMO, a big striker and a midfield ballwinner.

I think Collins will change the shape of the team to accomodate the new boys and to compensate for the loss of Scott Brown. Possible three at the back with Boozy playing behind Jones and Joneleit. Whatever system, with two more signings, we will have a very good squad IMO, depending of course on neither Murphy or Whittaker leaving. I am also assuming that the new guys will be good and fit in well to the club. Makalamby is a stick on for the goalkeepers position IMO as he wouldn't have left the Chelsea bench to come up and sit on the Hibs bench.

I would love to see a proven experienced midfielder signed, along with possibly Kozelsky.

As I said a few weeks ago, with a few shrewd signings from the manager, I don't think we should fear anyone this season. The team will be fitter than ever before, and it will be John Collins team. Overcoming the loss of Scott Brown will be our biggest problem, along with the usual suspensions and injuries. I also said that I thought the teams around us would lose some of their best players as well, and Aberdeen have just lost Russell Anderson, a hugeblow for them. It's only a matter of time before Naismith leaves Kilmarnock as well.

With the new signings, and some excennet young players coming through, I feel we can approach this season with real confidence.

Yet again our best defender left out for a man with little experience of being in the full team?

take out five proven players (the players mention on that bench. Ok, you have agreed to stevenson being in there) but replacing them with four unknown talents?

How can anyone justify any of the new starts (ok Kerr isn't exactly unknown and the support may be aware of O'Brien) getting ahead of the ones already there?

Okay so we just stick with the team that performed so impressively in the final half of last season do we? We have to try some new things, okay maybe so many changes is a tad drastic, but let's see how the new guys pan out in the pre-season friendlies?

Bizarre innit. The amount who have left Stevenson out of their team completely bewilders me since he was pretty comfortably our best player for pretty much the entire second half of the season imo.

Loads of folk are saying "bring the new keeper in". I can almost guarantee that not one single person on here has seen him play. He's tall. That's the only thing that people have to go on.

We will have no idea about the majority of new signings till we've played a couple of friendlies and had a look at them.
