Re: Are there still mugs out there thinking about buying a season ticket
I'm not this year and have had one for years, mostly because i am getting married this year and need the money and partly because i am so unsure about the coming season.

Why write the season off before it's even begun? Success is never guaranteed for any football club and equally so, success has been few and far between in the 24 years I've been supporting the cabbage. Hibs haven't had spending power for yonks. I admit that it's confusing that we've coined in £6.5m for two players but haven't seen the fruit of that investment yet. It is going somewhere though, it's not lining Petries, Collins or Farmers pockets (as is my understanding). It's reducing debt, building stands, investing in the one thing that makes Hibs tick and worth watching in the last few years - the next crop of youth players. Would you rather Hibs spent big and spent another 10 years paying for it, or be where we are now? Would you rather watch the McCanns, Stevenons, Chisholms, Grays & the next Riordans, O'Connors, Whittakers coming through........or go back to the days of Boco, Shannon, Power, Tosh, Wilkins because we were rooked and sh1te. I'm renewing my season ticket because now that I'm on, I don't want to ever get off this rollercoaster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. Re: Are there still mugs out there thinking about buying a season ticket
All five of us have renewed. Can't see why not as it's Hibs we support not individual players. We have seen it all before so get behind the team, but at the end of the day it's your own choice.

Re: Are there still mugs out there thinking about buying a season ticket
haven't made up my mind. if I was living in Edinburgh then I wouldn't think twice about it, but it costs me a feckload to travel up from Durham to Edinburgh for every home game. it was worth it this season and last season cos of the good football that was being played, but the way things are going with transfers at the moment I'm not sure. Still, plenty of time till the season starts, hopefully they'll be some good signings.

Why is it when some people mentions something about the lack of investment in the club people immediately come out with statements saying the club cant afford to spend big. It is well known that Hibs cant afford to spend big but surely some of the money brought in should be re-invested back into the team say 20% for example with the rest going to reduce debt. That way Hibs could probably afford to pay transfer fees for players at other teams in the premier league that would improve our team. I for one have decided after a great number of years as a season ticket not to renew until i see Mr Petrie back up his statement in the papers that Collins will be given sufficient money to compete. It is no coincidence that the four highest spending teams this season in terms of wages finished in the top four places. |

Re: Are there still mugs out there thinking about buying a season ticket
The most enjoyable games i have seen in many a month with Hibs cup final apart was when the young lads played up at Aberdeen and at home against Rangers near the end of the season. Both good draws against sides that had something to play for at that point so i did not give renewing mine and my laddies season ticket a second thought. I do however think we will see a period of transition next season but we are a bit better off from the last time it happened a few years back and i am happy to be patient to see how it pans out.

Re: Are there still mugs out there thinking about buying a season ticket
I'm getting a season ticket for the first time this year. Its possible that i will regret it, that I'll get less enjoyment out of seeing some new random faceless mercenaries this season than i did last season, when we had a different set of random faceless mercenaries. I doubt it however; what i enjoy about going to ER has nothing to do with the marketable value of the players i'm watching. Maybe i'm naive or 'a mug' in some peoples eyes but I dont see the purchase of a season ticket and going to games as a political vote of confidence in the board. Its just what i want to do with my time

Re: Are there still mugs out there thinking about buying a season ticket
If people truly supported their club then there would be no silly threads like this. I am renewing my ticket with my mate cos hibs are my life. :YAYYY:
Thick and thin. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. I remember when rangers were always losing under the eck/le guen era, and on all the football phone ins on the radio, i was pissing myself so bad hearing all these pathetic hun losers throwing in their season tickets!! I do not want to be like that, hearts are supposed to be the laughing stock. not hibs. yes we are losing our top players to sellick and i am embarrassed by RP not offering killen a two year deal but hibs have always been like this. From a business point RP is doing a great job. Out of the red and into the green like we are. Give it a couple more seasons and we can focus on the team, with debt gone and training centre fully operational well be challenging the infirm for cups and the league. we dont get the same financial rewards like the english clubs do! £60m for winning the championship playoffs?? like £60k for reaching the cup final up here! hearts pay out silly wages and look where they are with debt. cup in the bag, roll on next season, MON THE HIBS!! :YAYYY::YAYYY:

"After a great number of years as a ST holder I have decided not to renew this season...."
For all the folk who've come out with this line or similar; do you really think this is worse than under Mr Blobby and Jimmy Duffy? To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. C'mon guys, some of the best Hibs performances I've ever witnessed occurred this season, such as the CIS cup final and the 2-1 game v Rangers at home (under Mowbray)- quite possibly the best Hibs performance I've EVER seen. I'll admit I had my doubts about renewing as well, mostly because I think next season is likely to be one of "transition", but did so and don't regret it! :YAYYY: |

Re: Are there still mugs out there thinking about buying a season ticket
This morning I went to school and if somebody had asked me about killen i would have said that we had no chance he was staying. He has signed for Celtic but we knew fine well that he was leaving anyway so why does it have any effect on our prospects for the coming season? If you dont want to renew your season ticket then dont. Noone here is going to cry for you. I along with many other Hibees believe so cmon lets support our team.
