Great week for Rod Petrie. Thats another one off the payroll.

Apparently the Wages v Income ratio at The Leith San Siro stands at 43% (i.e. 43% of the turnover of the club goes on wages), any decent accountant will tell you that 50% is workable.

With 2 away this week and more to follow surely Rod has to look at the wage cap with a view to making some kind of increase. Even with my poor arithmetic I recon that on a turnover of, what ? £9,000,000 ? even taking the ratio to 50% would allow for another £630,000 in wages (£12,000 per week!).

Even raising the bar from the reported £3000 per week to £4000 might make a difference.

Come on Mr petrie, we know you like numbers.

He's off to Livingston as manager isnt he? It might be a good move for him, if he is a potentially good manager he cant stay in the background forever so I doubt if Petrie could have done much to make him stay. Sometimes its not all about the money. Good luck to him in his new job.

Re: Looks like Proctor's away.......

There must be quite a bit more free just now;

Players Out This season(or going)

Kevin Thomson (£2500 p/w)
Scott Brown (2500 p/w)
Simon Brown
McCluskey
Konde
Morrow
Konte
Michael Stewart
Thomas Sowunmi
Ally Brown
Zibi
Baillie

That probably frees up at least another 15K pw on wages

Players In

Wagner
Kerr
Donaldson

Take into account these guys wages that still leaves us with another 10K to spend on wages, add in the extra 12K per week mentioned above by making 50% turnover used for wages that gives us 24K per week, with Collins wanting 4 new faces. We could do a lot with that money.

The figure will be less as I'm sure some of the youngsters breaking through will get improved offers. Still would make a difference

Proctor leaving was always on the cards as soon as he didn't get the job at ER.

Think some coaching staff are needed as well as players.

Re: Looks like Proctor's away.......

Our turnover last year was £8.7M and increase from £7.2m the previous year.(21% rise). This season has been another fantastic season for the club financially.

Assuming another 21% rise that takes us to turnover of £10.4m

Plus there is the sale of KT and SB to add to that.

Ignoring the sale of those two at the moment allows a wage budget for the year
(if scaled up to 50% of costs from 42%) of £5.2m

100K p/w

Compare that to £3.65m from last year and a wage bill of 71k p/w

Its looking good for the hibees!!

Well the traialist squad is being coached by John Robertson so I'd imagine he is possibly being lined up. That will have them choking on their cornflakes in Gorgie.

Is he definitely away. I’ve been onto the Livi web site and nothing there and seen nothing official in the press.

Re: Looks like Proctor's away.......

All the best to Proctor if he goes to Livvy as manager. He was i feel brought here to be groomed as a replacement for Mowbray himself around about this summer till Mowbray left a bit quicker than originally planned.

As a side issue how about making an approach to a keeper around the 35 year old mark with a couple years left at least playing with a player/coach role at the club? Lump together both the maximum wages and we might be able to entice someone reliable and even with a pedigree of playing at the top level. Pie in the sky maybe but Klos if interested in staying for a couple years more in Scotland might be worth a punt on these terms.

Crossley released by FUlham this week, dont think he would be the best guy for this role but someone in this mould must be kicking about.
